Dayu Temple is located in an empty valley. The autumn wind is bleak and the sun shines on the main hall.
The abandoned courtyard is full of oranges and grapefruit, and pictures of dragons and snakes are hung on the walls of the old house.
When Dayu was carved on the stone wall, the waves rolled in and the river flowed eastward along the path of Baisha. (Shh, green wall: create a virtual wall)
A long time ago, Yu Dayu used four means of transportation to control floods, cut stone walls and dredge waterways, so that the water from the Yangtze River flowed into the sea.
Translation:
Dayu Temple is located in an empty valley. The autumn wind is bleak and deserted, and the setting sun shines obliquely on the main hall. The trees in the abandoned yard are covered with oranges and pomelos, and portraits of dragons and snakes are still preserved on the walls of the old house. The stone wall that Dayu dug in those days was shrouded in mist, and the waves burst, and the river flowed eastward along Baisha Road. It has long been heard that Dayu used four means of transportation to control water, cut stone walls, dredge waterways, and let the water from the Yangtze River flow into the sea.

In the first year of Yongtai, Tang Daizong (765), Du Fu went out to Zhongzhou, east longitude of Shu, and made an exclusive interview with Dayu Ancient Temple. The first couplet cleverly points out the place and season of tourism. When the autumn wind is bleak, the poet goes to visit Dayu Temple. When he looked up, he saw the surrounding mountains and dense vegetation. Dayu Temple is located in this empty and silent valley, and the setting sun just shines obliquely on the main hall. Zhuan Xu depicts the scenery in the temple from far to near. Because Dayu Temple is located in the deep mountains, nobody cares about it all the year round, so the houses are dilapidated and overgrown with weeds, which makes it seem desolate and deserted. The orange trees and grapefruit trees in the yard are covered with fruits, which makes the branches droop as if they were going to be crushed. There are still images of dragons and snakes on the walls of the ancient temple, which are faintly discernible. Neck couplets describe the environment and atmosphere around Dayu Temple. The clouds in the sky changed their posture in the sunset. Clouds lingered on the stone wall dug by Dayu, and there was the sound of waves in the distance. The river flows eastward along Baisha Road. This couplet uses personification, and uses the words "hush" and "walk" to endow the natural scenery with human vitality, vivid image and extraordinary momentum, which enhances the artistic appeal of the whole poem. The poem's theme is revealed by the lyric of the couplet.
This poem is concise in language and profound in artistic conception. The poet changed his visual angle from a distant view to a close view, and used the methods of combining reality with reality, personification and visualization, which received the artistic effect of blending scenes and lasting charm, eulogized Dayu's great achievements in water control and Ze Bei's eternal glory, and at the same time expressed his thoughts and feelings of remembering heroes and patriotism.
The Temple of Danger described by Du Fu was built on a cliff by the river in Zhongzhou (where the government is located in Zhongxian County, Sichuan Province). Du Fu visited this ancient temple when he left East Sichuan in the first year of Yong Tai (765) and passed through Zhongzhou.
"The temple in the mountain is empty, and the autumn wind sets the sun." Cut to the chase, and you will be in awe when you start writing. The mountain is "empty" and desolate; With the autumn wind rustling, the atmosphere is even more bleak. But the mountains are empty, and the ancient temples are more majestic; Being painted by the sunset glow is particularly distinctive and solemn, which makes people respect. It was in this mood that the poet climbed into the temple.
"The wild court hangs orange pomelo, and the ancient house draws dragons and snakes." The courtyard in the temple is deserted, and the houses are old. One is "barren" and the other is "ancient", which inevitably makes people feel desolate and cold. However, what the poet observed was another scene: the orange pomelo in the court was fruitful, the branches were drooping, and the walls were painted with dragon claws in ancient times. Oranges, pomelos and dragons and snakes have brought vitality and vigor to the abandoned ancient houses. "Hanging oranges and pomelo" and "painting dragons and snakes" are not only real scenes in front of us, but also allusions to Dayu. According to the Book of History. It is said that after the flood, the people of Kyushu were able to live and work in peace and contentment, and the "Shimayi" people living far away in the southeast also "wrapped oranges and pomelo"-wrapped the harvested oranges and gave them to Yu. It is also said that "expelling dragons and snakes and releasing weeds (there are aquatic plants in the river)" has made dragons and snakes have a home, and they no longer make waves (see Mencius. Teng Wengong "). These two allusions coincide with the scene in front of us and are displayed by the scene; The scenery and canon are integrated, which makes people feel that the poet is using canon. The predecessors praised these two sentences as "putting things into practice" and "Lao Du's eternal stunt" ("Poetry"). Inside "volume 4). The advantage of using allusions in this way is that they are more meaningful and inspired by the achievements of ancient heroes; Even if you can't see the allusion, you can appreciate the antique and vibrant scenery of the ancient temple and appreciate the poet's heroic feelings.
Write about the scenery outside the temple in five or six sentences: "Clouds hiss on the blue wall and rivers sound on the white sand." Clouds swirled and rolled slowly between the mossy ancient cliffs; Jiang Tao is surging, white waves are scouring the yellow sand and rolling towards the Three Gorges. The words "shh" and "go" are particularly vivid here. As the old saying goes, "Clouds follow dragons". From the misty clouds, rushing rivers and trance, we seem to see the dragons in the murals in the temple, flying around the cliff, hissing and spitting clouds; I also seem to see a giant, holding the Yangtze River by the nose and letting it flow meekly eastward along the sand road. ..... Here, myth and reality, the scenery inside and outside the temple, the majestic momentum of nature and Dayu's great spirit of managing mountains and rivers are integrated. This spectacular picture makes people feel infinite strength and beauty.
The poet stood on the top of the cliff and watched the scene. How can he not give sincere praise to Dayu, a hero? Therefore, he concluded: "If I knew it would take four years to control the third bus." Legend has it that it took "four years" to run around in water control, water by boat, land by car, mud by boat and Biandan Mountain. March 8th refers to Baxian, Badong and Brazil (now Zhongxian, Yunyang and Langzhong in Sichuan). Legend has it that this area was originally Zeguo, and it was only after Dayu cut through the Three Gorges that it was controlled as land. These two poems are very subtle, meaning: Yu Yu, I have long heard about your heroic deeds of riding for four years, digging the Three Gorges, dredging the Yangtze River and managing the No.3 Bus; Today, I personally visited the site and witnessed the ruins. I admire your greatness even more!
This poem focuses on praising Dayu's entrepreneurial spirit of defying difficulties, conquering nature and benefiting the people. Since the Anshi Rebellion in Tang Dynasty, the long-term war has been like a flood, which has brought endless disasters to the people. The "empty" mountains and "barren" courtyards were a true portrayal of the whole society at that time. The poet secretly satirized the fatuous ruler who brought disaster to the country and the people at that time with "Spring and Autumn brushwork", and pinned his hopes on Dai, the new ruler, hoping that he could carry forward Dayu's hard-working entrepreneurial spirit of "four riding" and "governing the three public interests", revitalize the mountains and rivers and manage the country well.
In lyric poetry, emotion and scenery should be coordinated and unified. In this poem, the poet praises the hero, and the emotional tone is high and heroic, but the scenery in the temple is very desolate: Shan Ye is empty, the wind is cold, the court is deserted, and the houses are old. These scenes are incompatible with the emotional tone. In order to solve this contradiction, the poet skillfully used the method of suppression and contrast: although the mountain is empty, it has the majesty of the Yu temple; Although the autumn wind is bleak, it has the glory of the sunset; Although the court is barren, there are orange pomelo hanging branches; Although the house is old, there are dragons and snakes flying between the painted walls. This kind of suppression and promotion not only truly reproduces the objective scenery, but also makes people feel cold and depressed; After adding it, the four sentences are powerful and the tone is getting higher and higher, which makes people more and more excited. This shows the artistic creativity of the poet.
