The elevation of this scenic spot is 1 100 meters, which is the main source of streams in the scenic spot. Countless mountain springs and streams spew out from the crevices of 100 meters, and many streams meet to form a big stream. Some of them are divided into streams by boulders, and some form many waterfalls down the mountain, so they are called "Hundred Waterfalls Springs".
The area around Baipu Spring is covered with trees. Every spring, the mountain flowers are blooming and the streams are gurgling. Looking at the green fields of Songshan Mountain, listening to the natural music created by nature and breathing the forest air that permeates your heart will immediately eliminate your travel fatigue and make you feel relaxed and happy. Songshan is named for its vast pine forests, ancient, exotic and wild areas. Its altitude is 1 150m, and the natural Chinese pine forest area is 170 hectares. The average tree height of 70-350 years old is 15m. This forest is the best-preserved and largest natural Pinus tabulaeformis forest in northern China. You can climb the ridge.
As far back as the Qing Dynasty, the Pinus tabulaeformis here was still a tribute to the palace. In the midsummer of A.D. 176 1, the emperor and civil officials went to Songshan Mountain to see the scenery and praised the pine forest. Later, the local government selected two pine trees from Songshan every autumn, which were eight inches thick and one foot and five feet long, and sent them to the Forbidden City in Beijing. Local officials dare not disobey instructions. Every autumn, they choose two good pine trees from Songshan and wrap them with HongLing seeds. 12 people carry them, spend the night in the morning, pass through Guangou, Nankou and Changping, and go all the way to Beijing. It is used to worship heaven every winter. Pine trees were paid tribute until the end of Qing Dynasty.
In the third year of the Republic of China (19 14), Yanqing County ordered Li Jingang to see the natural Pinus tabulaeformis forest in Haituo Mountain and wanted to make a windfall. He colluded with some local gentlemen, including Wang Menglan of Baimiao Village, Zhao of Brewmaster Village and Gengjiaying, and sold Songshan Forest to a match company in Tianjin to make a fortune.
The news spread throughout the county. Forty-eight villages in the northwest of the county learned that someone was going to cut down our Feng Shui forest and destroy our "green mountains and trees", and the masses spontaneously organized to fight for the protection of pine forests. Yuan Zhanen from Qianxiaying Village of Haituo Mountain and Wang Zhen from Mazhuang Village visited Zhangshanying, Shangxiashanquan, Xiaohetun and Wuliying. The villagers elected Yuan Zhanen and Wang Zhen as the team leaders to take care of the pine forest in Songshan.
One day, more than 100 people from Tianjin Match Company cut pine trees under Sidaowa and Songliang in Songshan. Yuan Zhan 'en and Wang Zhen led hundreds of people with iron forks and sticks to gather around the loggers. Yuan Zhanen stood on the rock, raised his iron fork and shouted, "Get out! Cut down our Feng Shui forest and look at your's head, folks, go forward! " The villagers rushed forward with sticks, and the woodcutter put down his tools and dispersed in a hubbub when he saw that the situation was not good.
When Li Jingang, the county magistrate, knew about it, he caught Yuan Zhanen and Wang Zhen to the county government and put them in prison on charges of "rioting".
On the first day of the sixth lunar month, a notice was posted in a county town, and Yuan Zhanen and Wang Zhen were sentenced to death and shot on June 6.
When the notice was posted, the villagers in 48 villages were filled with indignation. A man riding a red horse traveled all over forty-eight villages and told Yuan Zhanen and Wang Zhen that they had been sentenced to death. He was scheduled to go to the county town for rescue on June 6.
At dawn on June 6 of the lunar calendar, villagers from 48 villages came to the street corner of Xijie Street in the county with sticks and farm tools. The south gate was closed, and everyone set, shouting for Li Jingang to come out, and the people on guard were trembling with fear. The shouts alarmed the interior, and a few minutes later, the villagers climbed over the wall to open the door. Genial smile that Li Jingang had to come out. He trembled with fear. The crowd surrounded him and asked him to hand over Yuan and Wang immediately. If not, tell him to move his head. In order to survive, he promised to release Yuan and Wang immediately. After Yuan and Wang were released, they asked for a notice to protect the trees in Songshan Mountain. In the case of public anger, Li Jingang personally wrote a notice that he would never cut down the Feng Shui forest of Pinus tabulaeformis in Songshan and gave it to Yuan Zhanen. This notice, now kept in the county archives, is a true historical story of 48 villages protecting Songshan Mountain. Songshan hot spring is famous in ancient and modern times. It is an ideal place for bathing and treating diseases. As early as 1500 years ago in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was "chiseled by the pool" for "maid bathing". The Qing people praised Songshan as "a good place for fitness" and "a holy place for fitness". At the end of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Li Daoyuan's Notes on Water Classics recorded that "if there is a temple in the world, it is second only to the temple, and it has the right to cure all diseases in Kaminukuyu". Songshan Hot Spring has a water temperature of 45℃ and a sunrise of 2000 cubic meters. Spring water contains 27 kinds of elements such as potassium, magnesium, sulfur and iron, among which the fluorine ion content is as high as 12ml/l, which has remarkable curative effects on dermatoses, arthritis, rheumatoid diseases and local neuralgia, and attracts many people to bathe and treat diseases every year.

Songshan Nature Reserve has been successively rated as Beijing Science Popularization Education Base, Beijing Minors Ecological Moral Education Base, Beijing Wildlife Publicity Education Base, National Science Popularization Education Base and National Youth Science and Technology Education Base.
