1993 the first international symposium on Hani culture
During the meeting, more than representatives from China, Netherlands, Japan, the United States, Britain, Thailand and other countries 10 visited the Hani Terrace in Quanfuzhuang, Shengcun Township, and were deeply impressed by its magnificent landscape and rich culture.
1995, the French anthropologist Dr. Ouyena also visited the Hutou Terrace in Yuanyang. Facing the 10,000-acre terraced fields under her feet, Dr. Ou Yena was so excited that she didn't want to leave for a long time. He praised: "The terraced fields of Hani nationality are real earth art, real earth sculpture, and Hani nationality are real earth artists!" No matter which peak you climb in Yuanyang, you can see terraced fields filled with soil.
Tianshan Mountain in the past seems to be a huge non-verbal history book, which intuitively shows the long history of Hani ancestors' tenacious struggle and prosperity under the dual pressure of nature and society.
According to the ancient legend of the Hani people, the big fish created the universe, heaven and earth, and the first pair of people, the man named Zhita and the woman named Tapo. Tabo gave birth to twenty-two babies, and the third was a dragon. When the dragon grew up, he became the dragon king in the sea. In order to thank Tabo for his parenting, he gave Tabo three bamboo tubes, one of which contained rice seeds.
In other words, the Hani people believe that rice has existed since the beginning of the world.
It shows that Hani nationality is one of the earliest nationalities to domesticate wild rice, and rice cultivation is the ancient production content of Hani nationality.
For thousands of years, the Hani people domesticated the wild rice in the Sanjiang valley in Ailao Mountain area into dry rice, and improved the dry rice into rice. Under the unique ecological environment, the Sanjiang Basin has become one of the areas where human beings domesticated and planted rice in the early stage.
