Baihua's Text of Zheng Meixiang Nong

Wen: Since I was a child, I like the heroic poems of the Chinese nation, such as Yue Fei, Wen Tianxiang, Shi Kefa and Qiu Jin, and I also like reading their stories. Whenever there is an opportunity, I will visit their former residences, pay homage to their cemeteries and take a walk on the land that once left their footprints.

Today, although they all have national and historical limitations, they stick to the integrity of their beliefs regardless of life and death, which I will always respect.

I have the opportunity to visit the historic city of Yangzhou this year. On the last morning in May, I boarded Meihualing outside Yangzhou. Standing under the towering ancient beauty tree, I immediately remembered the story of Shi Kefa who died heroically to defend Yangzhou in the late Ming Dynasty.

The court is fatuous, Enemy at the Gates. Shi Kefa was ordered to supervise Yangzhou and was trapped in a lonely city. He worried about the fate of the country and the national peril day and night, drafted the throne several times, talked about the rise and fall, made suggestions for the emperor, and put forward the strategy of saving the country. Every time I finished writing, I read the manuscript for the third time, and my face was full of tears, and all the soldiers were moved.

Standing under Meihualing, I can't bear to leave. Although plum blossoms are not in full bloom now, the earth has been immersed in the thick plum fragrance for a long time.

Creative background:

Bai Hua has deep feelings for Yunnan, a frontier region. In the turbulent years, he looked back frequently and warmed himself and people with the warmth of the land in his memory. Baihua pursues the romantic sentiment and legendary imagination of the border region in her creation, but at the same time, she does not ignore the realistic character of the novel and also shapes the agriculture at this time.

In Bai Hua's works in 1980s, we can see the faint confrontation between Yunnan and the Central Plains. In his works, the Central Plains is conservative and abstinent, while Yunnan is free and unrestrained. The Central Plains suffers, and Yunnan is beautiful and quiet. The Central Plains is politics and Yunnan is nature.

Birch tree takes the collision of these two different cultures as a conflict, takes a marginal regional culture as a prescription, and faces the realistic anxiety brought by history and politics through imagination and geographical writing.

The creation of birch is deeply rooted in the soil of reality and full of romantic feelings; Full of suffering and troubles, but full of youthful passion and enthusiasm; Deep and heavy, beautiful and loving; It is not only the loneliness of the thinker, but also the deep love of the lover.
