What was the original intention of brothel, and why did it later become synonymous with brothel?

Brothel originally refers to gorgeous houses and the residence of kings. Because it was misrepresented by its predecessors, it has become synonymous with brothels. During the Three Kingdoms period, the brothel written by Cao Zhi still refers to the high-rise mansion, which refers to the gorgeous residence. Later, in the Southern Dynasties, Liu Miao wrote a sentence, one of which was called "Yue Hua spits candles, prostitutes sing clothes songs". Since then, people have called brothels synonymous, and later people spread them more and more. In the Tang Dynasty, it was really called a brothel.

Brothel is an indispensable emotional place for ancient literati besides temples, families and rivers and lakes. Many literati always go to brothels to express their feelings when they are frustrated. Brothel is actually an indispensable place in ancient times. Many ancient China literati wrote poems about prostitutes, such as Tang Bohu and Liu Yong. Without brothels, ancient traditional literature will probably lose a lot of charm. In fact, the feudal era was very depressing. Many scholars and elegant people can only go to brothels to relieve their inner anguish because of their repeated trials in the imperial examinations, so brothels are the only ones.

Nowadays, brothels are basically called by criticizing reality. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, brothels began to be attacked slowly, because in everyone's view, brothels are an informal place, which will corrode people's spirit, so now brothels are spurned, ignored and carried forward.

In any case, brothels are the product of an era. Its appearance was inevitable at that time, and so was its end. What we can do now is to seize the opportunity created by the times and strive to live well.
