"Stop" is a symbol of action in ancient Chinese characters in China. The word "stop" is used to indicate the meaning of coming indoors from outside. The whole word is that a woman walks into the room from the outside and sits down, indicating that the word "Ann" refers to "a woman sitting indoors". In ancient times, there were many natural enemies of human beings, such as poisonous snakes and beasts. Women's physique and physical strength are not as good as men's, so they are not safe in the wild. Only indoors can they be protected from infringement and get peace.
Therefore, Han ancestors created the word "An" according to "Women sit indoors for safety". The word "An" in the late Oracle bone inscriptions retains two parts of the word "An" in the early Oracle bone inscriptions, but the word "Stop" is changed to two points under the word "Female". Later, the word "An" in the bronze inscription further simplified the two points of women into one point, changed the direction of women's sitting posture from east to west, and removed the sitting posture. Later, the word "An" in Biography further removed the point under "female".
On this basis, the word "An" in Lishu changed the word "Fang" into a precious veil, and changed the image of a woman before folding her hands and abdomen to "woman", thus becoming the word "An" today. From the semantic point of view, the original meaning of the word "An" is calm, which means stillness, and also means comfort, safety, no danger, stability, proper location and willingness.
