These two poems are from the humble inscriptions. It means that all the people talking and laughing here are learned people, and no ignorant people come and go.

Hongru: A great scholar means a learned person. Hong: As big as Hong. Confucianism used to refer to scholars.

Ding Bai: Civilians. This refers to people with little knowledge.
