Since the inscription 16.2 has a cubic inch of one liter, it can be inferred that Qin Wei is one foot long and 23.2 centimeters. The 18th year in the inscription is the 18th year of Qin Xiaogong (344 BC). This musical instrument has a clear date, indicating that Shang Yang of Qin State is responsible for the supervision. The bottom is engraved with the imperial edict of Qin Shihuang for twenty-six years, indicating that the weights and measures after Qin Shihuang unified the whole country expanded the standards formulated during Shang Yang's political reform. Shang Yang Fang Sheng is an extremely important treasure in the history of Chinese weights and measures.
