Visiting Beidaihe
In order to avoid the police, our family came to Beidaihe specially. In the past, it was a place where emperors, generals, talents, and beauties had fun and entertainment. Today, ordinary people can also play freely. It can be said to be a blessing for people in a peaceful and prosperous world. During my stay in Beidaihe, it was a pleasure to take advantage of my leisure time to recite poems and appreciate lyrics.
The pigeon nest is the symbol of Beidaihe Scenic Area. I heard from the locals that there is a rugged boulder on the cliff facing the sea, just like an eagle standing on the seaside. There is an Eagle Point Pavilion built on the top of the cliff standing side by side with this huge stone. This is the best place to watch the sunrise. I remember that in the autumn of 1954, Chairman Mao, the founding leader of the People’s Republic of China, was on vacation in Beidaihe while watching the sunrise, riding on the waves, and wrote the words "Langtaosha·Beidaihe" with imagination: "Heavy rain falls on the quiet swallows, white waves surge into the sky, and fishing boats are fishing outside Qinhuangdao. The vast ocean is gone, who knows where to go? Thousands of years have passed since the past, and Wei Wu has waved his whip, and there is a bleak autumn wind in the east. Today, the world has changed. "Looking at today like poetry, the great man expressed his ambition in the past. What a big heart.
There are countless passes on the Great Wall. Shanhaiguan, with its majestic city walls, majestic pass towers and wide moats, shows its majesty as the first pass in the world. Stepping on the city wall, climbing the gate tower, overlooking the steep Yanshan Mountains, and looking at the vast sea, the feeling of "one man can guard the gate, and ten thousand men can't open it" arises spontaneously as if it were felt in one's own body. What is commendable is that Zhang Kai, a Jinshi of the Ming Dynasty, has a poem to testify: "The mountains are lined with swords and the water is flowing, and the city walls are blocked by clouds. Wherever there is danger, one man's defense is like ten thousand men's defense."
The story of Meng Jiangnu crying at the Great Wall is known as the four most popular folklore stories together with the Legend of the White Snake, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, and the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. There is a Meng Jiangnu Temple built on Fenghuang Mountain 6 kilometers east of Shanhaiguan City. The construction of this temple originated from the story of Meng Jiangnu crying at the Great Wall. There is no need to elaborate on the story. What is interesting is that a couplet on the door frame of the front hall of the temple is quite charming. The first line of the first line is "The sea water is falling," and the second line is "The floating clouds are long, long, long and long." "Chao" and "长" are both polyphonic and polysense words. With this common sense, when reading this couplet, it should be read as "The tide of sea water rises and falls, the tide rises and falls, the floating clouds grow, often grow, often grow and often disappear."
Appreciating the poem , commenting on allusions, listening to legends, and wandering along the beautiful coast of the Bohai Sea.
It’s not just the rhyming poems that make people linger, but also the mountains, the sea, the scenery, the people and the happy and beautiful life that happens around you and me every day
