The origin of teacher's day
The origin of Teacher's Day in China is very tortuous. 193 1 During the Kuomintang government, June 6th was designated as Teacher's Day by the people at that time, with the purpose of improving and ensuring teachers' treatment and work and enhancing their self-cultivation. But unfortunately, this spontaneous Teacher's Day has not been recognized by the government. Later 1939, the Kuomintang government designated August 27th, the birthday of Confucius, as Teacher's Day, but it was not implemented nationwide.
Until the end of the war, New China was founded. Starting from 195 1, China has designated May 1 as Teacher's Day. Unfortunately, due to the neglect of teachers during the Cultural Revolution, education was no longer taken seriously, let alone Teacher's Day.
With the passage of time, Teacher's Day is finally formally established on September 10 every year. Mr. Ye Shengtao once suggested that "students should enter school every autumn, so that students can remember the hard work and glory of teachers at the beginning of the new school year". Teachers' Day in Hongkong and Taiwan Province Province has always been September 28th in the solar calendar, Confucius' birthday. However, after Hong Kong's return from 1997, it has always followed the Teacher's Day of September 10. Taiwan Province Province remains unchanged.
