I believe that this philosophy of life, which advocates carefree and frank heart, will definitely free us from too troublesome life and too great responsibility. A thorough Taoist should live in seclusion in the mountains, try to imitate the life of a woodcutter and fisherman, be carefree and simple like a woodcutter, and be the king of green mountains and green waters like a fisherman. However, it is clumsy to ask us to completely break away from the philosophy of human society.
In addition, there is a greater philosophy than this naturalism, that is, humanistic philosophy. Therefore, China's noblest ideal is a person who can keep his original happiness without escaping from human society and life.
I think semi-players are the best players. Ancient and modern philosophy related to human life has never found a deeper truth than this theory, which refers to an orderly life between two extremes. This spirit of moderation has found a complete balance between action and stillness. Therefore, the ideal person should be half famous and half unknown; Laziness brings work, laziness is working hard; Being poor is not that you can't afford the rent, being rich is not that you don't work at all, or that you can feed your friends satisfactorily; The piano can also be played, but it is not very clever. It can only be played by close friends, and the greatest use is to entertain yourself. Antiques are also collected, but history is enough to fill the fireplace at home; I also read books, but I can't study hard; Have extensive knowledge, but don't be an expert; The article was also written, but half of the manuscripts sent to the Times were accepted and half were returned-in short, I believe this middle-class life is the most perfect ideal life that China people have found. Li Mian expressed this ideal of life beautifully in his "Half Song":
It is infinitely useful to see through more than half of the people.
Half a year is leisure; Half a mile dry and wide.
……
Drinking is just right, and the flowers bloom for half an hour;
The sail never turns, Ma Banle.
Half people don't like the smell, and half people don't like entanglement.
A hundred years of bitterness and happiness are half-related, and only half of them are cheap.
Therefore, if we combine the secularism of Taoism with the positive thoughts of Confucianism, it will become a golden mean philosophy. Because human beings are born between the real world and the illusory paradise, I believe that this theory may not be satisfactory for a westerner with a forward-looking concept, but it is the most superior philosophy because it is the latest. We admit that there must be several superhuman beings in the world-explorers, conquerors, great inventors, great presidents, heroes who changed the evolution of history-but the happiest people are middle-class people, who earn enough money to maintain an independent life and do something for the crowd, but not much; A little famous in society, but not very obvious. Only in this environment, the name is half hidden, the economy is moderately rich, and life is carefree, but it is not completely carefree, and the human spirit is the happiest and most successful.
