Without a word for three years, what does it mean to not bear to see Honggui?

"There is no word for three years, and I can't bear to see the return home." It means that there is no communication from home for three years, and I can't help crying when I see the geese flying south in the sky.

This is a poem in memory of my late father. It comes from "Remembering My Father" by Zhou Yuru in the Ming Dynasty.

Original text: Recalling the past when I was a remnant, the snow is flying when I return home. I haven't said a word in three years, and I can't bear to see him return home.

Interpretation: I recall that at the end of the twelfth lunar month, the last time I went home it was still snowing heavily. There has been no contact from home for three years, and I couldn't help crying when I saw the wild geese flying south in the sky.

The sentences in the novel that commemorate my father are as follows:

1. The endless lovesickness throws red beans with blood and tears, and the spring willows and spring flowers fill the painting building. ——Cao Xueqin's "A Dream of Red Mansions" (Qing Dynasty)

Meaning: Every little bit of lovesickness, all the drops are bright red blood and tears! The bright red blood and tears condensed into beautiful red beads and turned into acacia beans.

2. May is full of flowers in this world, and I think about my father every year. ——Xin Yun "Missing Father" (Qing Dynasty)

Meaning: It is the time when poplar flowers are brewing in May. Every year at this time, I will think of my father.
