This poem was written in the third year of Yifeng, Tang Gaozong (678). At that time, King Robin, who had been relegated for more than ten years and had just been promoted to suggestion, was falsely accused and imprisoned for accepting bribes. Mr. Wen Yiduo said that King Robin "was born with chivalrous spirit, meddlesome, keen on killing, revenge and revolution, and helping spoony women break their hearts" (Poem of Palace Complaints).
