"Spring Rain in Early Spring", also known as "Eighteen Members of the Department of Water Donation in Early Spring", was written by Han Yu. This is a seven-character quatrain that describes and praises the beauty of early spring. The first sentence points out the light rain in early spring, and describes it as smooth and moist with "moist as crisp", which accurately captures its characteristics. The sentence is fresh and beautiful. There is also Du Fu's "Good rain knows the season, when spring comes." Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently "has the same effect."
Original poem:
Light rain in early spring
Tang Hanyu
There is a lot of silk in the sky above the avenue, which is as delicate and moist as butter. The grass is vaguely connected in the distance, but it looks sparse in the near future.
This is the most beautiful season of the year, far better than the late spring of the green willow.
Interpretation of vernacular:
There is much silk rain over Jingcheng Avenue.
It's as delicate and moist as crispy cheese,
From a distance, the grass and grass are faintly connected.
Looking closely, it looks sparse and sporadic.
This is the most beautiful scenery in a year.
The most beautiful is Chang 'an, full of willows.

Creation background
This work was written in the early spring of 823 AD (the third year of Changqing). At that time, Han Yu was 56 years old and served as assistant minister of the official department. This is the biggest official he has ever been in his life. Although it was not long (he died at the age of 57), he was in a good mood at this time. Not long ago, there was a rebellion in Zhou Zhen (now Zhengding, Hebei Province), and Han Yu was ordered to go to Fu Xuan to surrender the rebellion.
Emperor Mu Zong was very happy. He was promoted from assistant minister of the Ministry of War to assistant minister of the official department. In literature, he has long been famous. At the same time, he also made achievements in reviving Confucianism. Therefore, although the year is approaching, we are not sad because of the years, but welcome spring with great interest.
This poem was written to Zhang Ji, a poet who worked in the Ministry of Water Resources at that time. Ranked eighteenth among brothers, so it is called "Zhang Eighteen". Han Yu invited Zhang Jichun to travel, but Zhang Ji refused because he was busy with his old age. Han Yu then wrote this poem as a gift, expressing the beauty of the early spring scenery, hoping to arouse Zhang Ji's interest in travel.
