Why do you need women and cows?
-This is the couplet in Jingminglou written by Gan Long. Later, it was used as a couplet in the North Attached Hall of Jingming Building.
The female here refers to the textile worker of the Weaving and Dyeing Bureau on the west bank of Kunming Lake, symbolizing the weaver girl, and the cow refers to the Zhenshui bronze cow on the east bank of Kunming Lake, symbolizing the cowherd.
The general idea of this couplet is that the environment here is quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and there is endless amorous feelings and interest in the moon all year round, not to mention the scenery on the left and right sides of the lake decorated with bronze cows and agricultural weaving maps, which often reminds people of the wonderful and touching myths and legends of cowherd and weaver girl meeting in Tianhe. It means that Kunming Lake symbolizes Tianhe, and the Summer Palace has naturally become a paradise.
