From: Han Dynasty, anonymous "Long Songs"
Interpretation: Sunflowers in the garden are lush, and crystal dew is waiting for the sun to shine. Spring brings sunshine and rain to the earth, and everything is full of vitality and prosperity. I am always afraid that the cold autumn will come, the leaves will turn yellow and the grass will wither. When can a hundred rivers run to the sea and return to the west? If you don't work hard when you are young, it's no use being sad when you are old.
2. Poetry: It's a night for men to read. Teenagers only know how to play, but don't know how to study hard. When they are old, they regret why they didn't know how to study hard when they were young.
From: Yan Zhenqing's "Encouraging Learning in the Tang Dynasty".
Interpretation: Every midnight is the best time for boys to study. When I was a teenager, I only knew how to play and didn't know how to study hard. When I was old, I regretted why I didn't know how to study hard when I was young.
3. Poetry: It is easier for teenagers to learn from old age than to succeed. An inch of time cannot be light. Before the sweet spring grass grows in the pond, the plane leaves in front of the steps have rustled in the autumn wind.
From: Song Zhu's Persuasive Poems/Accidental Achievements
Interpretation: The days of youth are easy to pass, but learning is difficult to succeed, so cherish every inch of time and don't let it go easily. The dream of growing spring grass in the pond is still awake, and the leaves of plane trees rustle in the autumn wind in front of the steps.
4. Poem: The poor road is not poor, and chaos is still as quiet as time. Although my hometown is in war, my brother is still accepting Confucianism. The bamboo shadow on the desk outside the window is still swaying, and the ink seems to have released a wild spring. The efforts of youth are a good thing for a lifetime. For the fleeting time, don't relax your efforts at all.
Written by Du Xunhe in Tang Dynasty.
Interpretation: Although living in a humble house, my knowledge has not decreased. I am still the same, although there is a war outside. Although there is a war in my hometown, my brother and nephew are still receiving the education of Confucianism. The bamboo shadow outside the window is still swaying on the desk, and the ink in the inkstone seems to jingle in the wild spring.
When you are young, hard work is a lifetime thing. Don't relax your efforts in the face of the fleeting time.
5, verse: I want to know how old I am, like a snake. The scale is half, who will cover it? The situation wants to tie its tail, although it is diligent and helpless. The child was forced not to sleep and was very happy at night. If you don't sing the morning chicken, you are more afraid of causing trouble. After sitting for a long time, the lights went down and I looked at the Big Dipper. It will be gone next year, and my worries will be in vain. Try to do it tonight, and the teenager can still boast.
From: Shou Sui by Su Shi in Song Dynasty
Interpretation: You should know that the age of parting is like a long snake swimming towards a ravine. Half the scales are gone, who can stop the idea of leaving! Besides, I want to tie its tail, although I know diligently that this is a helpless move. Children don't sleep at night, don't laugh, don't make trouble and struggle. Morning chicken, please stop singing, it's even scarier to be urged.
After sitting in the snuff for a long night, I fell down little by little. When I got up, I saw that the Big Dipper was lying on one side. Is there no Chinese New Year next year? I'm afraid my mind will be the same again. Cherish this night, young people can boast.
