The Eight Immortals of Darkness is a religious model derived from the Eight Immortals model. There are no figures in this pattern, but what the Eight Immortals are holding in Taoism represents immortals.

Han Zhongli, the representative of the Eight Immortals of Darkness, holds a fan and a sword, Li Tie holds a gourd and crutches, Cao Guojiu holds a yin-yang board, a blue crane holds a flower basket, Zhang holds a fishing drum (or a Taoist vase and duster), Han Xiangzi holds a flute, and He Xiangu holds a lotus flower or a hedge. The Eight Immortals of Darkness became popular during the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, and it was very popular throughout the Qing Dynasty.
