The Image of Lady Xiang in Qu Yuan's Works

Despite his rich culture and transcendental talent, Qu Yuan knew nothing about the hidden rules of officialdom, relying on talent and pride blindly. As a result, he was slandered by his political opponents and exiled to Miluo, Hunan Province, becoming a penniless wanderer. However, Qu Yuan's romantic features in love are well known, and almost all his important poems involve love. Among many lovers, who is the great poet's favorite? We can find the answer from his poem "Mrs. Xiang" ...

There are different opinions about who Mrs. Xiang and Mr. Xiang are. There is no doubt that they are Hunan water gods. This article is about Xiang Jun's thoughts and sadness caused by his failure to heal his wife. Mrs Xiang: In Chu legend, it is called Xiang Shui's spouse god together with Xiang Jun.. Some people think that the legend of Lady Hexiang and Yu Shun and his second concubine are related. It's Shun's wife Xiang Hehe. But in Qu Yuan's eyes, "Mrs. Xiang" has a high status.

Now there is a saying, I don't know how these people infer that Mrs. Xiang is amazing in beauty and has a higher position than Qu Yuan. Because of various restrictions, she can't meet Qu Yuan publicly, but she can only meet secretly in the wild. Only one woman meets these three conditions, and that is Princess Zheng Xiu, Chu Huaiwang's favorite. In fact, the word "Mrs. Xiang" already implies that "Xiang" is Chu; Madame is the wife and concubine of the king of Chu.

When the ambiguous relationship between Qu Yuan and his beloved concubine was known by Wang Huai, it prompted him to exile Qu Yuan in the name of politics, so that people could never see Zheng Xiu again. Ten years later, Chu Huaiwang died. In order to prevent the relationship between Qu Yuan and Zheng Xiu from turning back, the Chu royal family obeyed Chu Huaiwang's orders and sent people to kill Qu Yuan. Today's Miluo River is the place where the massacre took place. The soldiers finally caught Qu Yuan by the river, stabbed him to death, put him in a bag, tied him tightly, put stones on it and threw them into the river, which staged a cruel historical tragedy.

However, Wang Yi in the Eastern Han Dynasty said in the preface to the Nine Songs of Chu: "In the past, in the southern part of Chu, between Yuan and Xiang, there was a belief in ghosts and good temples, and its temples must make songs to enlighten the gods. Qu Yuan's exile, which is superior to his domain, is full of worries and bitterness, and he is full of worries and troubles. He has seen the ceremony of offering sacrifices to lay people and the joy of singing and dancing, and his words are humble, because he wrote the song "Nine Songs" ... "Obviously, Qu Yuan's exile was in the former, and he wrote" Mrs. Xiang "in the latter, but he was exiled to the south by Chu Huaiwang because of his poem" Mrs. Xiang ",which cannot be justified in chronological order.

Qu Yuan's death was roughly after the king, the general of Qin Dynasty, attacked Chu Ying capital city in the 21st year. Qu Yuan's funeral, that is, "mourning for his old home and abandoning it, the clan society is in ruins and the people are scattered. Unfortunately, you can't refuse Qin, but you can wait for death" (Wang Fuzhi's Interpretation of Chu Ci) can prove the approximate time of Qu Yuan's death. Furthermore, the poem "Fang Zhongchun moved eastward when people were separated" in Mourning means that Yingdu City was breached, and the people were displaced and had to move eastward. This is roughly consistent with the event described in Historical Records of the Chu Family that "in twenty-three years, I took more than 100,000 soldiers from the east, went back to the west to take fifteen towns of Wujiang River, was chosen as a county by Qin, and left Qin". Obviously, the article "joking ..." said that Qu Yuan was murdered shortly after Xiang Wang ascended the throne, which was purely ignorant of historical facts. If King Qingxiang was born by Qu Yuan and Zheng Xiu, then why didn't he let Qu Yuan return to Beijing to take power more than 20 years after he ascended the throne?

According to Records of the Historian, Chu Huaiwang was deceived by Zheng Xiu and Zhang Yi, alienated from Qu Yuan, and trusted wicked people, so Qu Yuan was exiled. Qu Yuan is a proud and upright man. What about Zheng Xiu? In addition to the misdeeds mentioned in Historical Records, there is also a famous allusion in Warring States Policy, "Zheng Xiu hurts people, but a beauty hides her nose". It is this Zheng Xiu who is full of something and cheated the nose of a beauty that the king of Chu originally liked. Thus, Qu Yuan and Zheng Xiu are two completely different people. How can they be said to be "having an affair"?

So who is Mrs. Xiang in Qu Yuan's mind? Because Qu Yuan lived for a long time, many modern people's thinking may only make us fall into the whirlpool of thought. Mrs Xiang written by Qu Yuan is naturally beyond our comprehension.
