①I like to walk alone in the fog. For this reason, many good times in the past have been spent reading Tang poetry. Because Tang poetry is beautiful, and its beauty is hazy, like a ray of skylight that has been shrouded in haze for a long time.
②The hazy beauty of Tang poetry lies first in its formal beauty. The rhymed poems and quatrains of the Tang Dynasty have the same number of words in each sentence, and seek contrast, flat and oblique rhythms, and pay attention to the orderliness of words and the brightness of tones. Almost every one of the talented poets of the Tang Dynasty was able to compose several good poems that have been passed down to future generations through the collision of pure poetic sentiment and almost arbitrary rhyme. However, since the meter is almost perfect, even the greatest genius cannot write all the poems perfectly. Du Fu is a great poet who made the formal beauty of Tang poetry finally lost in the mountains. Du Fu allowed the world to experience the unparalleled hazy beauty of Tang poetry in a dreamlike and illusory way. Du Fu wrote the "perfect" Tang poetry and also "completed" the Tang poetry. He is extraordinary. The rhyme and rhythm of his subsequent poems were ultimately based on his poems as the golden rule. However, history has its own bright eyes. What Du Fu is famous for through the ages is ultimately his New Yuefu "Three Officials" and "Three Farewells", his "The Troops of Chariots", "The Parade of Beauties" and "The Northern Expedition". His rhythmic poetry is unparalleled. However, how can he dance all the dances well while wearing shackles? "Ascending", which is known as "the finale of seven rhythms through the ages", ended up being "exhausted" because of his pursuit of four antitheses. This is the tragic decline of Tang poetry that lost its perfection, but it is not the tragic decline of a great poet. After entering Shu in his later years, Du Fu wrote poems that broke the rhythm, such as "Spring Water Born" and "Lonely Walking by the River Looking for Flowers", which at least complemented many of his outstanding rhythmic poems filled with vitality.
③ Tang poetry with exquisite form is lost in the hazy. There are tens of thousands of Tang Dynasty poems, but only three hundred are truly spread by word of mouth. It became a household name in later generations, and more of it is the magnificent and colorful scattered poems of the Tang Dynasty. For example, "The solitary smoke is straight in the desert, the sun is setting in the long river", "The trees are low in the open sky, the moon is clear in the river and people are nearby", "The wine and meat in Zhumen are smelly, there are frozen bones on the road", "In the old days, the swallows in front of the king's hall flew into the homes of ordinary people". Because it is difficult to plan a chapter, sentences are often formed first and then the chapter is pieced together. Therefore, there are more good lines in Tang poetry than good chapters. Just like the starlight in the fog, in the haze, only spots can be seen, faintly.
④The formal beauty of Tang poetry is lost in the haze, while the literal beauty of Tang poetry, which is both delicious and light, is generated in the hazy. The most mysterious source of Chinese traditional culture is probably its unique Chinese characters. The unique Chinese characters are inherently coherent and can only be understood. The unparalleled calligraphy art directly produced by it can be said to go back to ancient times and continue for thousands of years. Even modern art, in which contemporary abstraction is its spirit, seems to have originated from it, and it seems that the most beautiful art of calligraphy is mostly the writing of Tang poetry. This is not difficult. It makes people think that Chinese characters have a kind of literal beauty that makes people visually happy without even having to read them. The Chinese characters, through spiritual selection and combination, can make people feel emotional and make people cry. The literal beauty of Tang poetry has reached an almost unprecedented and superb state. "Two orioles sing in the green willows, and a row of egrets ascends to the blue sky. The window contains the snow of Qianqiu in the West Ridge, and the door is docked with a ship thousands of miles away from Dongwu." "The green mountains are faint and the water is far away, and the grass in the south of the Yangtze River is withered in autumn. The twenty-four bridges are full of beautiful women on a bright moon night. Where can I learn how to play the Xiao?" I picked up these two Tang poems at my fingertips. There was no need to read them carefully or ask for a deep understanding. Just from the words, the hazy and beautiful meaning was overflowing, which is like thousands of cups of wine and thousands of flowers.
⑤The world of mortals is boundless, everything is hazy, and there is an occasional ray of skylight in the mist, which naturally makes you more beautiful. And in the Tang Dynasty poetry, which is so delicate and beautiful, it is the hazy beauty of the world of mortals that still lingers. It is a girl wearing gauze in the green bamboo forest, it is the two lines of horse hoof marks in the snow of Hu Tianfei, it is a hibiscus blooming in the clear water, it is a canoe moored forlornly on a moonlit night. Thousands of miles of sad autumn, hundreds of years of illness, are to commemorate history; half the sunrise, thousands of miles of Jiangling, are to commemorate travel. What especially governs the Qianqiu is the true Zen of the world that can be seen in Tang poetry. Three spring halos, bright moonlight, spontaneous sorrow, zebra calls, life and death, separation and reunion, honor and disgrace, sorrow and joy, the most poignant, the most sad, the most unrestrained, the most dripping. The Tao has not been taught by people for thousands of years, and the songs have not been sung by people for thousands of years. This delicate skylight makes the human world even more hazy, beautiful and true.
