Parents are here. If you don't travel far, you must travel far. What do you mean?

This sentence comes from the Analects of Confucius. The original text is "parents are here, you don't want to travel far, you must travel well."

It shows that Confucius not only emphasizes that children should support and honor their parents (it is impossible to travel far away), but also does not object to a person going out to struggle with legitimate and clear goals.

"Parents are here and don't travel far" means that people can't live without their parents' help from birth to growth. Even if they get married, marry and have children, they still have to rely on their parents to look after their children or do laundry and cook at home. But it also means that you need to bear the responsibility of supporting your parents. You can't swim too far as long as your parents exist. On the one hand, your parents can't take care of your life, and neither can you.

In China, parents are selfless to the next generation. Therefore, when "Poverty leads to change" says that filial children will naturally not be far away from their parents, and they can take care of them when they are old and unable to walk. This kind of "when they are developed, put on clothes and go back to their hometown" can make parents feel your filial piety.

Of course, the ancients did not blindly emphasize stupidity and loyalty. The second half of the sentence also explains, "You must swim well." If you are really capable, run away because of work or study. Belong to a reasonable category. As long as you tell your parents, the reason for running away from home is still socially acceptable.

Because on the one hand, it is easy to do something wrong without purpose and direction, on the other hand, it will make parents more concerned and worried about it. And because of his recklessness, his parents are worried about it, which is also a manifestation of unfilial in Confucius' view.

A simple sentence, seemingly superficial, is actually filial piety. Therefore, as a child, we should always be filial and do more filial piety.
