All kinds of strange objects at the Expo attracted people's attention, including jade. A visitor wrote: Nothing in China's works of art can be compared with jade vases at the World Expo. From August to June of that year, the Duke of Buckingham auctioned his property in Stowe, including two jade articles, at the price of 23 shillings and 12 pounds respectively. As for the understanding of the value of jade, it was not until the 1930s that Charles Stanley Nott (1887 ~ 1978), an American jade collector and curator of Norton Art Museum, published a monograph on jade in China, that he really entered the western research field.
