What does Summer Festival mean?

Summer Festival is the general name of "traditional festivals" held in summer in Japan. It is usually held from July to August when Japan welcomes the hot summer, and mainly includes three major sacrificial activities: Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka and Kanda Festival in Tokyo.
