The origin of Kunming's "Spring City" comes from the Ming Dynasty. When Yang Shen, the top scholar of the Ming Dynasty, was demoted to Yunnan, he wrote the poem "The weather is often like February and March, and flowers are always in spring", making Kunming a spring city.
Every season in Kunming is a beautiful landscape: cherry blossoms bloom in spring; In summer, the green lotus of Cuihu Lake is like a barrier; The maple leaves in autumn are as bright as fire, and the clouds are all over the sky; Winter is still blue sky and warm sun. Moreover, Yunnan's unique climate and abundant sunshine in four seasons make Kunming a "plant kingdom" with flowers blooming in all seasons.
In winter, when most areas are covered with white, the streets of Kunming are full of flowers and evergreen trees. Walking on the streets of Kunming, you can feel that the clothes here are basically the same all year round, so Kunming is called the Spring City.
Kunming is a national historical and cultural city. As early as 30 thousand years ago, human beings lived and multiplied around Dianchi Lake. In 278 BC, Yunnan was founded here. In 765, Nanzhao established Dongcheng, which was the beginning of Kunming's urban construction. At the end of Ming Dynasty, the Li Yong regime of Nanming established its capital in Kunming.
Kunming belongs to the mountainous monsoon climate of the northern subtropical low latitude plateau, with mountainous landform, surrounded by mountains on three sides and Dianchi Lake in the south, with beautiful scenery along the lake. Because it is located in the low latitude plateau, the climate here is "like spring all the year round" and enjoys the reputation of "Spring City".
