Great China Restaurant was founded in 1930. The main founder is Zhang Zaishou, a native of Anhui Province. The original address of the restaurant is No. 196 Pengliuyang Road, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It has a history of 83 years. In 1930, Zhang Zaishou and others jointly purchased the Wuxiangzhai Restaurant in Sesame Ridge (opposite the Wuchang Post Office on Pengliuyang Road today) and renamed the restaurant "Huizhou Great China Restaurant". This Huibang restaurant was the predecessor of the Great China Restaurant that later became famous throughout the country.
In 1932, due to road construction in Wuchang, the restaurant in Sesame Ridge was demolished and the "Great China Restaurant" moved to the entrance of Baizi Lane in Wuchang. The address at that time was No. 71, Pengliuyang Road. According to the archival data research of Wuhan Archives, the Great China Restaurant was registered as "Great China Restaurant" in October 1932 (the 21st year of the Republic of China).
