Everyone may have heard of the name chaos, an ancient beast. He is one of the four great beasts in ancient times. China has many legendary versions about it, but do you know what chaos looks like? Next, China, I will tell you the legend of chaos.

Chaos is one of the four fierce beasts in ancient Han mythology. According to Zuo Zhuan, these four fierce monsters are chaos. Their images are a huge dog, gluttonous with a sheep's head and eyes under his arm, Qiong Qi, a big tiger with wings, and Xiongnu with wild boar's fangs on his legs.

Chaos in China Myth

Time theory

The first lecture on Journey to the West: "Spiritual root is the source of pregnancy, cultivating the mind and nourishing the nature." It has been said that "the number of heavens and the earth is 129,600 years old, which is one yuan." Divide one yuan into twelve clubs, namely, Zi, Ugly, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu and Hai. Every conference should have a history of 1800 years. And as far as one day is concerned: when children are young, ugly crows; Yin can't get light, and Mao can't get sunrise; After eating in the morning, the third one is in the row; At noon, but not in the west; Shen Shizhen and the sunset are one; At dusk, people will decide at sea. For example, in a large number, as soon as the meeting is over, the world will be blurred and everything will be gone. Five or four hundred years old, at the beginning of the Shanghai conference, the sky was dark and there was no word, so it was chaotic. " It can be seen that chaos is a dark time at the intersection of sea and sea, and it is a state of chaos and nothingness.

Theory of god beast

Chaos myth was recorded earlier in Shan Hai Jing, which is particularly worthy of careful analysis. The West Mountain Classic, the second volume of Shan Hai Jing, says: "Three hundred and fifty miles west of Tianshan Mountain, happy ever after, with realgar, flows in the Tang Valley in the southwest. There is a divine bird, which looks like a yellow sac, is as red as fire, and has six feet and four wings. It knows nothing about singing and dancing, but it's just Di Jiang. " Chaos is chaos, and the image of chaos is a bird that can sing and dance. Some notebooks are called "",and the traditional "bird" is similar to "swallow". Plagiarism may be wrong, but it all makes sense. Obviously, "chaos" here refers to the sun. So how is chaos associated with Di Jiang? That is, the ancient sound "Jiang" is connected with "Hong". Di Hong is the Yellow Emperor, the legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation. Yuan Mei (1716-1798) also said in The King of Snakes at Meridian: "There was a snake king in the State of Chu, who looked like a snake, without eyes, ears, claws and nose, but only one mouth. It is shaped like a meat cabinet, and it is muddy and the vegetation is exhausted. " It is no accident that this passage links the chaos in Di Jiang, the snake (dragon) and the fact that Zhuangzi should be emperor.

In Zhuangzi's Chapter King VII, Zhuangzi tells the story of "seven out of seven, disorderly death". The main idea of the story is that the emperor is called Shu, the emperor in Beihai is called Hu, and the emperor in the center is called Chaos. Shu and suddenly meet in the land of chaos, and chaos treats them well. Shuhe suddenly wants to repay wonton. Seeing that everyone has eyes, ears, nose and mouth, use them to see and smell. Chaos has no seven senses, chisel seven for it. Dig a hole every day, and after seven days, seven holes will come out, and Chaos will die. The chaotic image in "Zhuangzi" is actually closer to the deity Dihe in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas": like a yellow sac, red as fire, with six legs and four wings, singing and dancing, but it is actually Di Jiang.

The West Field Classic of the geography book "Nerve" in the Han Dynasty records: "There are animals in the west of Kunlun, like dogs, with long hair and four feet, like squatting without claws, with eyes but ignoring, unable to walk, with ears but no smell, some people are intelligent, with abdomen without five zang, rectum without spinning, and esophagus. People have virtue and resist it, while virtue relies on it. " Chaos is an animal with long hair like a dog, four legs like a bear but no claws, eyes but no attention, walking but no movement, two ears but no hearing. It is human nature that the abdomen has no internal organs, but the intestines are straight and not bent, and the food is straight. If you meet a noble person, chaos is violent; If you meet a wicked person, Chaos will obey his command.

The ancient book "Nerve" said: Chaos is like a dog, with four feet without claws, no vision, inconvenient walking, wings, bullying good people and liking cruel people, so it is called "Chaos".

A long-haired quadruped, like a dog, has a belly and no five internal organs. If you resist good, rely on evil. (Absolute evil spirits)

(Otherwise, chaotic theism, unless otherwise specified, does not belong here)

It is recorded in The Divine Comedy Classic (Wild West Classic).
