Yan 'er Island is located in Shinan District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, at the eastern end of Fushan Bay. It is a headland protruding out of the sea. According to historical records, in May (1388) of the twenty-first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, the Thousand Households Department (referred to as Fushan Department) was established in Weifushan, Weishan. At the beginning of Qingdao's opening, Yan 'er Island was just a desolate place by the sea. It was a real "island" in the Ming Dynasty. Due to siltation and human control, it was connected with the land to form a peninsular headland, and it was not connected with the land until the middle of Qing Dynasty, forming today's peninsula. Fishermen from Fushan Institute built the Longwang Temple here. Although it is called Longwang Temple, it also worships Tianfei Palace (Tianhou Palace and Mazu Tempel) along the coast of China since the Ming Dynasty.
Yan 'erdao Mountain Park covers an area of 20,000 square meters and can accommodate10.6 million people. In case of emergency, more than 20,000 people can be evacuated. The park has ecological, landscape, cultural, fitness and leisure functions and a beautiful environment. It is a good refuge and a good place for citizens to relax and exercise.
