Xin Qiji is not only a patriotic hero, but also wrote many poems full of fighting passion. Due to the attack of the pacifists, he spent 18 years in retirement near Shangrao Lake. 1203, the court appointed him as an Anfu ambassador in eastern Zhejiang and a magistrate in Shaoxing. He often talks about state affairs with Lu You, a patriotic poet who lives near Jianhu Lake in Shaoxing. The following spring, Song Ningzong invited him to Peking to ask for his opinions on Xu Jin's Northern Expedition. Before he left, Lu You gave him a long poem, "I have a heart and a hall to write about the DPRK". The poem says: Xin Qiji is a first-class figure among Guan Zhong and Xiao He, and he is overqualified as a messenger of peace in eastern Zhejiang. When Xin Qiji arrived in Beijing, the emperor only arranged for him to be the magistrate of Zhenjiang Prefecture. Soon, the patriotic hero died of grief and anger. Later, people used "overqualified" as an idiom, which means that high talents and low positions can't play a role.
