1. Metrical poetry, just four sentence patterns. (See above) Flat, flat, flat. 廄廄廄平平. 廄廄平平廄. Flat, flat, flat. Inverted to Teng, inverted to Teng come, just these four sentences (Qilu, that is, add two qi in front of flat, add two ping in front of flat). Then there are four types of sentence patterns: flat rises into rhyme, flat rises does not enter rhyme, oblique rises enters rhyme, and oblique rises does not enter rhyme. Then there is the permutation and combination, nothing difficult. (Pingqi does not rhyme, which is the beginning character. In fact, the second character is a flat tone character, and the first sentence does not rhyme. The rest can be deduced in the same way.)
Of course, what I just said is Zhengge, but also There are variations and there are twists and turns. I have warned newcomers more than once not to think about whether 135 or 246 is clear when they first start writing poetry, thinking about changing patterns, or even trying to bend the pattern. Not many great poets write poems always thinking of being saved! I am not an expert. I have written so many poems that I rarely struggle with them. Unless absolutely necessary, I will resolutely use the formal style.
I suggest that people who are just learning to write metrical poetry should try to write formal verses as much as possible.
2. Some people say that it is difficult to memorize sentence patterns, although there are only four types. In fact, as long as we know the first sentence, we can write the next three sentences (quatrains) or seven sentences (rhymed poetry) through judgment.
For example, today’s song "Visiting Mount Putuo on the Fifth Day of March". The first sentence I wrote was - Looking for beautiful scenery in late spring (廄平平廄廄).
Then the following five rhymes, Pingqi does not fit into the rhyme (please look at the second character for Pingqi or Chouqi, because the first character can be Pingqi or Chou).
The couplet is - 廄仄廄平平 (the first character can also be 平平).
There are only two of the four sentence patterns left, so the next two sentences are -
廄廄平平廄, 平平廄廄平.
Why this order? Because the couplet at the end rhymes, it must be even, and the two sentences can only be placed like this. (It can also be operated in other ways)
The first four sentences are——
中平平廄廄,中仄廄平平.
中廄平平廄, 平平廄廄平.
Remember, the sentence pattern of all rhymed poems (eight lines) whose first line does not fit into rhyme is
the first four lines and the last four lines are exactly the same!
So the eight sentences are——
中平平任仄,中仄仄平平.
中廄平平廄, 平平廄廄平.
The middle level is the same, the middle level is the same.

(The middle four sentences, that is, the two couplets, must be in opposition; it does not matter whether the beginning or the end is in opposition. Not many people can compete, unless they want a master like Du Fu!)
