Li Bai's poem "Climbing the Phoenix Terrace in Jinling" contains the sentence "Three mountains are half-fallen outside the blue sky, and two waters divide the Bailuzhou". The Bailuzhou seen by Li Bai when he climbed the Phoenix Terrace, according to "Jingding Jiankang Zhi" , that is a long sandbar in the Yangtze River outside Stone City, dividing the river into two parts, winding around the middle. There are many reeds on the island, and egrets often gather there, so it is named Bailuzhou. During the Southern Tang Dynasty, there was a pier for boats entering the river beside Bailu Island. The island was home to river gulls, and people were not surprised when they came there. People at that time had a poem about "The river road beside Bailu Island is sloping, and the light gulls catch their feathers and fill the flat sand." During the day, egrets are flying around, the willow color shines on the passers-by, and everyone in white clothes is green; at night, they perch on it, and "the waves shake the moon, and the stars cast their shadows into the tower." It is truly a beautiful place. Bailuzhou in Li Bai's poem was listed as one of the "Eighteen Scenic Spots of Jinling" in the Ming Dynasty.
