The Tang Dynasty was the pinnacle of poetry creation in all dynasties. Many famous poets emerged. There are many outstanding and talented poets among them. There was a female poet in the Tang Dynasty, Yu Xuanji, who was one of the four great female poets in the Tang Dynasty. She has 50 poems in existence, collected in "Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty", and one volume of "Yu Xuanji Collection".
Yu Xuanji was very smart when she was young and was a famous prodigy poetess. She became famous all over the world when she was a teenager. The great poet Wen Tingyun heard about it and was very interested in her, so he found Yu Xuanji and put it to the test. When Wen Tingyun met this 13-year-old girl poet, he asked her to compose a poem on the spot with the title "Willows by the River". What I didn't expect was that a poem that was written just for the occasion was full of charm and was a rare masterpiece. The title of the poem is "The Willows Along the River"
The full text is as follows: "The Willows Along the River"
The green color extends to the deserted bank, and the smoke enters the distant building.
Shadows cover the autumn water, and flowers fall to catch people's heads.
The old roots hide fish caves, and the low branches are connected to passenger boats.
On a stormy night, frightened dreams add sorrow.
The poet Yu Xuanji was only 13 years old at the time. She was still a girl who was not deeply involved in the world and had not experienced ups and downs in life. However, her inner understanding of Liu's topic was unique, no less than an adult's understanding, so the poem she wrote amazed Wen Tingyun.
The first sentence of the poem points out the beautiful and misty state of willows by the river. ?The green color extends to the deserted shore, and the smoke enters the distant building. ?The green willow trees extend all the way to the desolate shore, and the grace of the smoky willows blends into the tall buildings in the distance. These two sentences fit the meaning of the question and point out the surrounding environment where willows grow.
The second sentence is still a description of scenery. ?Shadows cover the autumn water, and flowers fall to catch people's heads. ?The reflection of the willow branches was reflected on the water surface by the sunlight. A breeze blew down the poplar flowers and landed gently on the heads of the fishermen on the shore. The description of the scenery is drawn from the distant view to the close range.
The third sentence? The old roots hide in fish caves, and the low branches are connected to guest boats. ?It means that the roots of the willow tree have become old and there are large gaps. Naughty fish are swimming around inside. There are many small boats behind the low willow branches. They look like they are tied to the willow branches, but they cannot keep the passing travelers. After reading these two sentences carefully, there is a sense of vicissitudes of life and depression. It can be seen that although the poet is young, his perceptions are very sophisticated.
The last two sentences are the poet's inner sentiments, "The windy and rainy night brings sorrow to the dream." ?I woke up from my dream on a stormy night and felt an inexplicable sadness.
It can be seen from this poem that although the poet is young, his understanding of life is no less profound than that of an adult. The poet expresses his feelings of parting and melancholy about life through the description of the willow tree. The whole poem is a blend of scenes, expressing emotions through scenery, and has a profound artistic conception. It is an excellent work.
