This special group mainly investigates the influence of traffic changes on cities. Historically, due to its proximity to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and convenient transportation, Yangzhou developed rapidly and the city expanded along the canal. With the siltation of the Grand Canal in the late Qing Dynasty, the development of maritime traffic and the completion of beijing-shanghai railway, Yangzhou developed slowly, and the urban spatial form extending along the river remained basically unchanged.
