What does Mrs. Bamboo refer to?

The Bamboo Lady, also called Qingnu or Zhunu, is a Chinese folk summer cooling utensil. It is a cylindrical bamboo product.

In the hot summer in the south of the Yangtze River, people like to lie down on bamboo mats. The bamboo mats woven from bamboo are a cool thing to cool off on hot days. They can be hugged and placed on feet. The Bamboo Lady is about 1 meter long. It is a cylindrical object made of bamboo strips. It is hollow and surrounded by bamboo mesh. It is based on the principle of "wind ventilation in the alley" for people to get cool.

Traditional Chinese wedding customs believe that the Bamboo Lady is a symbol of men, the most yang thing, and a sacred thing that carries on the family line. There are always two small balls in the Bamboo Lady, which is very fun.

There is a riddle in the famous book "A Dream of Red Mansions" (there is controversy as to whether it is the original work and its author, but it is mostly believed to be Baochai): "With eyes but no beads in the belly In the sky, the lotus flowers are happy to meet each other. The sycamore leaves have fallen apart, and the loving couple will not be together until winter." This riddle is about an object - "Mrs. Bamboo".

The first two lines of the poem refer to the appearance of the "Bamboo Lady"; the last two lines mean that when the weather gets cold after autumn, this thing will no longer be used and will be put away or put aside. Because this is a lantern riddle made by Baochai, it implies that although Baoyu married her, he became a monk not long after, and the relationship between the couple is very shallow.

Su Dongpo, a great writer in the Song Dynasty, once wrote a poem: "Leave me to accompany you on the wooden throne, and I will give you the speechless bamboo lady."
