A few years later, there were as many apricot trees in Lushan area as100000. When the apricots are ripe, Dong Feng sells them as food to help the poor and hungry people in Lushan. People who want to eat apricots can only exchange rice, while Dong Feng uses rice to help the poor, so there is also a saying that "the tiger guards the apricot forest". It is precisely because of Dong Feng's noble character of practicing medicine and saving the world that he has won the universal admiration of the people. After Dong Feng came out of the mountain, people set up an altar in Xinglin to worship this kind Taoist priest. Later, people built apricot altars, real altars and fairy altars in Dong Feng's seclusion to commemorate Dong Feng. In this way, the word Xinglin gradually became a special term for doctors. People like to praise a great doctor like Tong Feng with words like "Xinglin is warm in spring" and "Xinglin is famous".

Legend has it that there is a pot Weng in the world (about the 2nd century AD). I don't know its name, so it's called Gong Hu. "Said, calendar Yang people, selling medicine in the city. No price, no treatment. The speaker said: Take this medicine, and you will vomit. If you get well one day, nothing will work. Collect tens of thousands of dollars a day and distribute them to the poor and hungry people in the city. From this point of view, Hu Weng is a hermit doctor with good medical skills and charity. Because it often hangs a pot as a medical symbol in the medical department, it is called a pot Weng, and there are many myths and legends in folklore. Hu Weng once taught Fei Changfang medicine. The old wine thought that "pot" was homophonic, and the suspicion came from "Hu" and "Xuan". Later, pharmacies used gourd as a cover, and pharmaceutical companies also used gourd as a trademark pattern. There was a saying that "I don't know what medicine is sold in gourd".
Doctors are kind-hearted and help all sentient beings with medical skills, which is known to the world, and there is a saying that hanging pots helps the world. Its canon is almost derived from this.
There is a strange legend in the translation of the Book of Southern Han Dynasty: there was a man named Fei Changfang in the Eastern Han Dynasty. One day, while drinking in a restaurant, he happened to see an old man selling medicine in the street, hanging a gourd to sell pills and powder. After selling for a while, the pedestrians in the street gradually dispersed and the old man quietly got into the gourd.
Fei Changfang saw clearly that the old man was by no means an idle man. He bought wine and meat and paid a respectful visit to the old man. Knowing his purpose, the old man led him into the gourd. When I opened my eyes, I saw the architecture painted by Zhu Lan, which was magnificent and colorful, just like the Qiongge in the fairy mountain. Later, Fei Changfang learned magic from the old man for more than ten days. Before leaving, the old man gave him a bamboo pole and rode like a fly.
When he returned to his hometown, his family thought he was dead. It turns out that more than ten years have passed. From then on, it took a long time to cure all diseases, drive away the plague and bring people back to life.
This is just a myth and legend, but it puts on a "mysterious coat" for practitioners. Later, in order to commemorate the legendary doctor, folk doctors hung a gourd at the entrance of the drugstore as a sign of practicing medicine. Nowadays, although the "hanging pot" of traditional Chinese medicine is rare, the word "hanging pot" has always been retained.
