The eunuchs in the DPRK ran amok, which made people angry and unhappy. In 588 AD, Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty ordered the Southern Expedition. After hearing the news, Chen Houzhu disagreed. He still lives a luxurious life, indulging in drinking and writing poems, thinking that "the king is here."
As a Xu, Xu Deyan is a sober figure. He watched Enemy at the Gates, expecting Chen's death, and family separation was inevitable in the war. I couldn't help but say to Princess Lechang sadly with tears: "The country is ruined and the family is dead, so we don't care for each other. If you are talented, you will enter the noble family of the emperor. If I die, I will never forget each other. If you are born, you will never see it again. Although * * * is a letter. " So he broke a bronze mirror and held the princess in half. Then he agreed with the princess: "If Zi enters your home, I will be lucky to combine this mirror with the goods on the Japanese market in the first month." If it exists, you must keep your ambition and predict life and death. "
In 589 AD, Chen perished and they were separated. Princess Lechang was captured, and Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty betrothed the princess to Prime Minister Su Yang. Princess Lechang was deeply loved by Sue and did whatever she wanted after she was discharged from hospital. On the 15th day of the first month, Xu Deyan went to Chang 'an for information according to the agreed method. On this day, Princess Lechang "has made the eunuch look at the sun and break the mirror". Deyan saw that the servant was holding a half-mirror, and the asking price was very high, so he "led the slave home, told him the truth with tears, and took his own mirror to close it", so it was seamless. At this time, Xu Deyan bittersweet, wrote a poem:
The mirror goes with people, and the mirror returns to people.
Without the shadow of Chang 'e, the moon would shine in the sky.
Princess Lechang "sees poetry in the mirror and cries bitterly because she can't eat or drink." Su Yang was deeply moved to see the princess "miserable" and returned the princess to Deyan, "knowing with clothes". A banquet was also held to congratulate the troubled couple. At the urging of Su Yang, the princess recited a poem:
How to move today, new officials versus old officials.
It's hard to be a man if you dare not laugh or cry.
This poem is euphemistic, sad and moving, and profoundly depicts the dilemma of the princess at that time. Left a story in the history of literature.
Regarding the embarrassing situation of the princess, Li Shangyin, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote a five-character ancient poem entitled "Daiyue courtesans mocking Princess Xu", saying:
I dare not laugh or cry, but I want to swallow my voice.
