Translation:
Due to the severe drought, the rice fields were not mature, and the buckwheat was not harvested because the frost came too early.
Farmers have long expected to go hungry this year, but this year has just caught up with a month, and the days of starvation are even longer.
2. Two poems about farmers, the first part
Tang Dynasty: Li Shen
In spring, as long as you sow a seed, you can harvest a lot of food in autumn.
There is no waste of heaven and earth, and the toiling peasants are still starving to death.
Translation:
Sow a seed in spring and you can harvest a lot of food in autumn.
There is not a piece of land that is not cultivated, but farmers still starve to death.
3. For agriculture
Tang Dynasty: Du Fu
In addition to the smoke and dust in Jinli, there are eight or nine jiangcun villages. Round lotus floating leaves, fine wheat falling light flowers.
Buzhai has been farming in the countryside on credit since he was 18. I'm too embarrassed to ask about cinnabar.
Translation:
Outside the war in Jinguancheng, there are eight or nine families in Jiangcun. Round new lotus leaves float quietly on the water, and green wheat is blooming gently.
I really want to find a house and die from now on, and go to a place far away from Chang' an to plow and work. I am ashamed that I can't abandon all worldly pursuits and seek medical advice like Ge Hong.
4. The farmer's father, Lao She.
Tang Dynasty: Qiu Wei
When will the east wind arrive? The green lake has gone up the hill. Spring is early on the lake, and the family is not idle.
In ditches and running water, between flat land and weeds. After dinner at night, I let the cows go and closed the door when I came back.
Translation:
When did the spring breeze come? The peaks on the lake were blown green. Since spring comes early on the lake, farmers can't be idle all day.
Farmers and Lei work together in the fields, digging ditches to draw water to remove weeds, and plowing the fields without pruning. In the evening, the farmers feed the cows, then go home and close the door to sleep.
5. Damage to farmers
Tang Dynasty: Zheng Ao
A grain of Redmi, a few drops of cow blood.
People on the coral branches keep throwing up.
Translation:
Fine Redmi rice, this is the coagulation of cow drops.
The nobles eat and enjoy treasures, and drink and vomit Redmi.
