Wang Wei's Farewell Poems Jun Yan was dissatisfied and returned to the southern mountain frontier, but don't ask further questions after leaving.

"You are dissatisfied with your words and return to the southern mountain frontier", which comes from "Farewell" by Wang Wei of the Tang Dynasty. Full text: I got off my horse and drank your wine, and asked you where you were. You are dissatisfied with your words and return to the south mountain frontier. But don’t ask again, the white clouds are endless.

This poem is written to send a friend off to hermitage. There are six sentences in the whole poem, and only the first sentence is narrative. In five words, he rides and bridles his friend to see him off for a distance, and then dismounts and sets up wine to bid farewell to his friend. The place where you dismount is also the place for refreshment, which is probably at the pass into Zhongnan Mountain. This completes the theme. The following five sentences are a question-and-answer conversation with friends.

The second sentence asks where the friend is going. The question naturally leads to the following answer and transitions to retreat, showing concern for the friend. Three or four sentences are the answers from friends. The sentences may seem ordinary, but when you read them carefully, you will find that the words are shallow and affectionate, and contain endless meanings. It is only mentioned here in one sentence, but we can see the character's elegant temperament, rejection of the world and yearning for a secluded life.

Translation:

Please get off your horse and have a glass of wine. Dare you ask your friend where you are going?

You said that because you were unhappy with your life, you returned to your hometown and lived in seclusion next to Zhongnan Mountain.

Just go ahead, I don’t need to ask anymore, look at the white clouds floating endlessly.
