Jingzhou has changed for many years, suddenly listening to the spring rain and remembering Jiangnan.
Translation:
At the age of sparse sideburns, the sideburns are already gray and sparse, sitting alone between the screens, watching the flickering light and shadow of red candles illuminate this silent night.
After many years in Beijing, my temperament changed greatly. Suddenly I heard the sound of spring rain, which reminded me of my hometown Jiangnan.

This quatrain was written by the poet Yu Ji when he was an official in Hanlin. Yu Ji was 49 years old in the sixth year of Yanyou (1319) and joined the Imperial Academy as an official until Yuan Wenzong died in the third year of Shunzhi (1332). At the age of 59, the poet returned to his hometown and worked in the Hanlin Academy for 10 years. Judging from the content of the poem, it is the poet's works in the middle and late period when Hanlin was an official.
The poet's "memory of Jiangnan" is not only because the northern country, where the spring is still cold, is not as good as the "apricot blossom and spring rain in Jiangnan", but also because the poet is old and has a bumpy career. When he was in Hanlin, the poet "made up his mind to accept the counselor and the gains and losses of ancient and modern times" and "remonstrated or not, he was unhappy at home".
