Poetry:
This is a poem describing the quiet and beautiful scenery on a spring night in the mountains. The whole poem is closely linked to the word "quiet", which is very much like a landscape sketch. The poet uses moving scenery such as falling flowers, moonrise, and bird singing to highlight the tranquility of the spring mountain on a moonlit night, achieving the artistic effect of contrasting the stillness with movement, and vividly outlines the poetic and picturesque meaning of "the mountain is more secluded with the singing of birds". picture.
The whole poem aims to describe tranquility, but it uses moving scenes. This contrasting technique reflects the poet's Zen heart and interest.
Original text:
The sweet-scented osmanthus falls when people are idle, the night is quiet and the spring mountains are empty.
When the moon comes out, birds startle the mountains, and they sing in the spring stream.
Vernacular translation:
There are few people moving, only the sweet-scented osmanthus falls silently, and the valley is quiet and empty at night in spring.
The bright moon rises and shines brightly, startling the birds in the mountains, flying high and singing in the spring stream from time to time.
Extended information:
Wang Wei's "Birdsong Stream" was written when he traveled to the south of the Yangtze River during the Kaiyuan period (the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, 713-741). Its background was stability and unification. The prosperous society of Tang Dynasty. This poem is the first of the group of poems "Five Miscellaneous Poems on Huangfu Yue's Yunxi" written by Wang Wei about the Yunxi villa where his friend Huangfuyue lived. It is written by the poet who lives in Wuyunxi (i.e. Ruoyexi) in the southeast of today's Shaoxing County. work.
According to the "New Book of Tang·Biography of Wang Wei", Wang Wei was a Jinshi at the beginning of the Kaiyuan Dynasty and later awarded Tai Lecheng. Because of the yellow lion dance incident, he was demoted to Jeju Tongcang to join the army until the twentieth century of the Kaiyuan Dynasty. After Zhang Jiuling came to power for three years (735), he returned to Beijing and served as Youshiyi.
Regarding this period of Wang Wei’s resume, Zhu Yuebing, a researcher of Yue culture from Shaoxing, believed in his "An Examination of Wang Wei’s Deeds in Yuezhong": "It was nearly fifteen years from the eighth year of Kaiyuan to the twenty-first year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty. Wang Wei originally roamed in Wuyue during this period.
There are good reasons to say that famous works such as "Birds in the Stream", "Mountain Dwelling in the Dark" and "Acacia" were written in Yuezhong. , touching the scene evokes emotions, and reminds me of the famous sayings of the predecessors describing Ruoye Creek. I want to compete with the ancients to win by "coming out of the blue" and "beating the blue", so I came up with the couplet "The moonrise scares the mountains, and the birds sing in the spring stream." A wonderful poem that uses movement to write stillness.
Based on the analysis of the style and artistic conception embodied in the poem "Birdsong Stream", this poem should have been written during the "Kaiyuan Heyday" period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, and was the work of Wang Wei in his youth.
