2. Translation
The carriages, horses, and brocades are linked together, and the fragrance and dust follow the orchestra. Glancing over the water swing. Qingming is a cold food day.
Cars decorated with gold treasures, majestic horses, and flowers blooming in endless streams. The shengxiao is blowing, the zither and the harp are playing, raising a trail of fragrant dust. By the pool on the top of the wall, the shadows of the swings pass by from time to time. It is the time of Qingming and Cold Food.
Flowers stick to each other, and willows hang hanging. Yingfang is almost drunk and asleep. I don’t believe in the cuckoo when I’m drunk. Twenty years in Jiangnan.
The blooming flowers were crowded together, and the green wickers were drooping. I got drunk and fell asleep soundly in that man's house several times. At that time, I was so intoxicated that I could not believe that there would be any "why not go back"? However, I finally returned to Jiangnan, and it has been twenty years!
3. Appreciation
The first part of this word describes the grand occasion of Dadu. "The carriages and horses are connected with each other, and the fragrant dust is flowing with the orchestra." It is written that on the streets of Dadu, there are countless luxurious carriages and horses, connected in front and back, in an endless stream. The first sentence shows that the ladies and gentlemen are enjoying themselves, and the scene is luxurious and lively. The second sentence uses "fragrant dust" and "orchestra" to further describe the grandeur of recreational activities, and at the same time dyes the atmosphere, making it even more unprecedented. "At a glance, flying over the water autumn stem, it is a clear and cold food day." "Water Swing" was originally a game in which the guide did somersaults and dives on the swing frame, but here it actually refers to the similar northern autumn stem. Suddenly, when I saw the swing swinging, I realized that it was the Qingming Cold Food Festival. "Tianjin Legacy" records: During the Cold Food Festival, a swing was built in Tianbao Palace, which made the palace concubines laugh and think it was a feast. The emperor (Xuanzong) called it a play of half-immortals, and all the soldiers and the people imitated it. Popular among the people, the Cold Food Festival uses swings as a play. From this the author knows that it is the Cold Food Festival. In just a few sentences, the car, the proud horse, the incense, the orchestra and the flying water swing form a macroscopic picture of the "Qingming Cold Food Day".
In the second part of the poem, the writer recalls a lingering past with a girl in Kyoto life. "Flowers stick to each other, and willows hang. Yingfang is almost drunk and asleep." "Yingfang is drunk and asleep." It can be seen that the relationship between the poet and the mistress of "Yingfang" is extraordinary. "Flowers stick to sticks, willows hang hanging" expresses the entangled life of the two people. "You don't believe in the cuckoo when you are drunk." "Cuckoo" is a symbol of sorrow. The cuckoo's cry of blood is not only a symbol of sorrow, but also a symbol of farewell. The author does not believe that separation from that girl will be painful, and he does not believe that he will leave her. But things went against expectations, and eventually they were separated, and they were separated by the sky. I could only leave my deep thoughts in Kyoto, and I still think of him often twenty years later. This is where I wrote "Twenty Years in the South of the Yangtze River". Some people have speculated that the girl in the testimony may be Zhang Yan's old acquaintance, Hangzhou singing girl Shen Meijiao.
The whole poem is full of the author's memories of the good life in the past. In order to better express that period of life, the author chose the tone of the poem "Ruan Lang Gui", which makes the sentences full of charm and the tone of the words forms a beautiful With the "rhythmic flow", language and emotions pour out naturally like flowing water, and content and form achieve harmony and unity.
4. Notes
Glimpse: fleetingly.
Tie Tie: the look of squeezing.
Yingfang: refers to the singing girl’s room.
Cuckoo: The ancients believed that the cuckoo’s cry sounded like “it’s better to go back”. "If you don't believe there will be a cuckoo" means you don't believe it will break up and return.
