What does it mean that the Chu people are pitiful and burnt?

"Pity" in this sentence means pity. The whole sentence means that Chu soldiers set fire, but Epang Palace turned to scorched earth.

The Chinese interpretation of "poor" is: cute; Pleasant; Admirable; Unfortunately; Strange; Not normal; The number of extreme words is too small or the quality is too poor to mention.

"Chu people were razed to the ground" comes from the Fu of Epang Palace written by Du Mu, a writer in the Tang Dynasty. The original text is as follows (excerpt):

Afanggongshang

Du Mu in Tang Dynasty

Ha ha! One person's heart, ten thousand people's heart. Qin loves luxury, and people also miss home; How can we use it like sand?

Make the columns of negative buildings more than the farmers of nanmu; There are more rafters on the beam than working women on the plane; The phosphorus in onion is more than that in millet. The joints of ceramic tiles are uneven, more than the whole body silk; There are more vertical columns and cross sills than nine battlements; The orchestra's strings are hoarse, and they talk more than the city people.

Make the world dare not speak and dare to anger; The single husband's heart is getting more and more arrogant. Shout, shout, letter valley pass; The Chu people are on fire, poor scorched earth.

Translation:

Alas, one person's will is the will of ten thousand people in Qian Qian. Qin Huang likes prosperity and luxury, and people care about their homes. Why do you have to search for a penny when plundering treasures, and the treasures are consumed like sand?

As a result, there are more people carrying pillars than farmers in the fields; There are more rafters on the beam than women workers on the loom; There are more nails on the beams and columns than rice grains in the granary; Ripples vary in length, exceeding the whole body silk thread; There are more railings, straight or horizontal, than national battlements; The sound of orchestral music is noisier than that in the market.

Looking at people all over the world, I dare not speak freely, but I dare to be angry in my heart. However, the thoughts of husbands and thieves are getting more and more arrogant and stubborn every day. As a result, when the garrison soldiers shouted, Hanguguan was captured at one fell swoop, and Chu soldiers became angry. It's a pity that Epang Palace has become a scorched earth.

works appreciation

"Epanggong Fu" was selected in the seventh volume of Ancient Chinese Literature. The editor pointed out that this work is "a warning to Sui Guang (Yang Di), Bao Shu (Chen Houzhu) and others, especially about the problem of body treatment", which is very insightful; However, due to the lack of understanding of Du Mu's social environment and political attitude, the author's creative intention and the ideological significance of this work have not been accurately revealed.

In a relatively short period of time, this poem shows the grandeur of palace architecture, the fullness and beauty of harem, and the preciousness and luxury of treasures with typical artistic techniques and clear and concrete images, thus drawing the conclusion that the reason why Qin Shihuang ruled for a long time was that the mob used materials for no mercy, which provided a profound lesson and warning for the supreme ruler at that time. The full text not only has shocking ideological power, but also has high artistic value.

The words "Overpressure for more than 300 miles, isolated from the sun" closely bear the word "out" and always write the size of Epang Palace. The previous sentence is wide and the next sentence is high. From "Li Mountain is folded in the north and goes straight to Xianyang" to "I don't know anything, I don't know the height", so I will make a further description on the width and height. "Five steps on the first floor, ten steps and one cabinet; Corridor waist back, eaves high;

The words "each occupies the terrain and intrigues" are both concise and vivid. In particular, "the long bridge lies on the waves, and there are no clouds in Wan Li." After the road is empty, it is even more vivid. We don't say that the long bridge is like a dragon and the road is like a rainbow, but we say that there is no cloud, no dragon and no rainbow, which not only shows ups and downs in brushwork, but also shows the impression of those buildings from the amazing style, which gives a strong lyrical color to the objective description.

The grandeur of Epang Palace written above has been derogatory; But it doesn't fully explain the problem. Because the completion of such a magnificent building, of course, increased the burden on the people; But if it is used to do something beneficial to the people after completion, it should still be praised. Therefore, after writing about the magnificence of Epang Palace, the author immediately extended his pen to a more important place.

From "Zhao Yan Ji" to "I don't cherish it very much", it inherited the prosperity and beauty of singing and dancing, and then wrote the wealth of treasures. Through this series of narratives, the purpose of Epang Palace is vividly displayed, thus flogging Qin Shihuang. From the beginning to here, the author described the construction, scale and use of Epang Palace with concise and vivid pen and ink, and did not discuss it abstractly, but the discussion was already in it.

It is not difficult for readers to see that Epang Palace, which embodies the blood and sweat of the people and is enjoyed by the rulers, reflects the sufferings of the people and the corruption of the rulers.
