The first four sentences of the poem first explain the background: the heroes made a fierce insurrection, the righteous crusaded, and the situation was excellent.
The six sentences in the middle explain the Crusade: there are many contradictions within the Coalition forces, killing each other and dispersing their forces. The reason for this is that "the title of Huainan Brothers is engraved in the north", and Yuan Shu split and proclaimed himself emperor. Yuan Shao also plotted to abolish Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty and make Liu Yu emperor. What is the result of their division and self-interest? "Army force is uneven, hesitant, flight. Snobbish makes people fight, and the heirs are also embarrassed. " -look at each other, look at each other, retreat, stay put or even kill each other.
The last six sentences directly describe the danger of war: due to years of war, soldiers' armor never leaves their bodies and lice grow out; A large number of people died, and there were many bones in the wilderness, but there were no crows thousands of miles away. Faced with this bleak, tragic and terrible scene, the poet couldn't help shouting loudly: "Give birth to a hundred relics, and read it to break people's intestines", expressing great sorrow and sympathy for the people who were in dire straits because of the war, and mercilessly exposing and flogging the culprit who caused people's suffering. It embodies a strong people-oriented and realistic spirit.
Hao's style is simple, gloomy and tragic. Poetry is a collection of allusions, examples and descriptions, with concrete images and profound connotations. It is a record of the Han Dynasty and an epic.
