History of Pagoda of Six Harmonies When was the present Pagoda of Six Harmonies built?

Pagoda of Six Harmonies is located in the south of the West Lake, on the Moon Mountain by the Qiantang River. In the third year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 970), when Hangzhou was the capital, the King of Hangzhou built the Pagoda of Six Harmonies for Zhiyuan Zen Master, a monk of the Chaoshui School in Qiantang River, and now Pagoda of Six Harmonies is rebuilt in the Southern Song Dynasty. Taking the meaning of Buddhism "Liuhe Zun", it was named Pagoda of Six Harmonies. Pagoda of Six Harmonies, also known as Pagoda of Six Harmonies, means "the four corners of heaven and earth".

Zhonggai Temple in Taiping Xingguo is called Kaihua Temple. The original tower had nine floors and lights at the top, which were used for river boat navigation. In the fifth year of Xuanhe, the tower was burned down. Shaoxing was rebuilt in the Southern Song Dynasty. In the second year of next year, the top floor and pagoda were repaired, and the wooden structure outside the pagoda was rebuilt in the 25th year of Guangxu reign (1899). Emperor Qianlong came here in person and inscribed plaques for each floor in turn. The names are: the first place is solid, the two truths are one, Sanming is clean, the four treasures cover the five clouds, the six turtles are loaded, and the seven treasures are solemn. This situation is really rare. From the inside of the tower, the kettle door leads to the veranda, and all floors can be overlooked by columns. Spectacular bridges, fluttering sails and lush mountains are pleasing to the eye. Zheng Songqing has a poem saying: "In the Spring and Autumn Period, every complaint is unprovoked." The existing Pagoda of Six Harmonies plane is octagonal, with 13 layers on eight sides and seven layers inside. It is 59.89 meters high and covers an area of 888 square meters.

The tower eaves gradually narrowed from bottom to top, and 104 iron bell hung on the upturned corner of the tower eaves. The eaves are bright, the eaves are dark, and the light and shade are alternating. Seen from a distance, it is very harmonious. Every second floor in the tower is a floor, the stairs spiral up, and the walls are decorated with sculptures such as "Sumitomo", flowers, birds and animals, which are very beautiful. Visitors can overlook the Qianjiang River from the tower with beautiful scenery. Climbing the tower at dawn, as Bai Juyi said in "Recalling Jiangnan": "The river is red like fire at sunrise, and the river is blue when spring comes." It's beautiful. According to legend, the monk Lu and Walker in Water Margin finally became monks in Pagoda of Six Harmonies and died here. Pagoda of Six Harmonies is a masterpiece of ancient architecture. 196 1 year, the State Council was designated as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In recent years, the newly-built "China Ancient Pagoda Expo Park" is now open to tourists.
