Portrait of Xu Wei
The word true colors originated from Liu Xie's Wen Xin Diao Long? In General Compilation, true colors only refer to true colors. With the evolution of the times, the meaning of true colors is gradually changing from shallow to deep. In the Tang Dynasty, the true colors were used to distinguish the costumes of music officials. In the Song Dynasty, the true colors were brought into the field of literary criticism. In the Ming Dynasty, there was a man named Tang Shunzhi. He thought: You should write your true colors straight, but you should not hide your flaws. Xu Wei's understanding of True Colors was directly influenced by Tang Shunzhi. Xu Wei applied his true colors to any of his fields.
As a child prodigy, Xu Wei has made outstanding achievements in many fields. Although Xu Wei first used his true colors in traditional Chinese opera creation, his true colors were also used in poetry, which became the guiding ideology of poetry creation.
According to the rough statistics of Xu Wei's poems, there are about 2070 poems preserved by Xu Wei. Xu Wei's poems describe all aspects of things, which are rich in content and full of emotion. It can be said that looking at Xu Wei's poems, we can see Xu Wei's life track and his psychological feelings and understanding. As the saying goes, reading his poems can help us know who he is.
Although Xu Wei's poems were well written, no one really cared at that time. It was not until Yuan Hongdao discovered the poems written by talented people like Xu Wei that Xu Wei gradually became famous, and only later did he push Xu Wei to such a position. In fact, Xu Wei, like Van Gogh, was down and out all his life, and no one appreciated and worshipped him until after his death.
Xu Wei's freehand flower-and-bird painting in Ming Dynasty is in a period of collision between two kinds of consciousness: learning from the past and innovation. During this period, ink freehand brushwork was the most popular. Among them, the master of freehand brushwork in ink painting, represented by Xu Wei, pushed painting to another amazing peak with his own talent.

Although Xu Wei was frustrated in his official career and failed to realize his ideal ambition, he made great achievements in painting, calligraphy, drama, poetry and other arts. Among the freehand brushwork in ink and wash, Xu Wei's freehand brushwork in flowers and birds is the best, eclectic, magnificent and lifelike, and it is amazing to see.
Xu Wei's freehand flower-and-bird painting has a unique style, which no one can match. Xu Wei's flower-and-bird paintings are bold and innovative, absorbing the advantages of predecessors. The things in the paintings are not only similar to the things themselves, but also similar to each other. Xu Wei's freehand flower-and-bird paintings are not ordinary copying, but artistic processing, so that the inner part of things can be better interpreted and the viewer can enjoy the paintings while being there. Although the phoenix tree he painted is only a small part, it can remind people of the towering and stout phoenix tree and get stuck in it. With his exquisite brushwork, Xu Wei painted a series of paintings that people were fascinated by and could not extricate themselves.
Xu Wei had an eventful life and was poor in his later years. However, because Xu Wei has the same noble quality as bamboo, he tries not to bend over for five buckets of rice. Even if those dignitaries hold huge sums of money, Xu Wei won't draw a picture for them. Up to now, there are many freehand flower-and-bird paintings by Xu Wei, such as: ink-and-wash grapes, flowers and birds with landscape figures, peony plantain stones, chrysanthemum stones and so on.
The Story of Xu Wei Xu Wei was clever and witty since he was a child. A folk story can prove Xu Wei's cleverness-Xu Wei punished the old rich man with poetry.
Portrait of Xu Wei
During the Jiaqing period of the Ming Dynasty, there was an old rich man, Gou Jianru, who showed no mercy to others. In his opinion, money is the most important thing. On the tenth day of February this year, the county magistrate's family in the county government was in double happiness, one was the birthday of the county magistrate, and the other was the son of the county magistrate who had to spend a hundred days. In order to get the protection of the county grandfather, the old rich man intends to take this opportunity to send a gift.
The old rich man heard that the county grandfather likes to chew on words, so he planned to send a gift with a strong scholarly atmosphere. Finally, I thought of sending couplets to grandpa, but the old rich man didn't read books and couldn't read. So, I'm going to find Wei Xu, a famous talent.
However, Xu Wei hated the old rich man's guts and gnashed his teeth and thought of a way. Xu Wei quickly agreed to the old rich man's request. Finally, on the wedding day of grandpa's family in the county, the old rich man took gifts to please grandpa in the county. Unexpectedly, the county grandfather ordered the servant to palm his face for the old rich man. The old rich man didn't know why he hit him. I didn't know it was a couplet until I asked.
The old rich man reported the matter to the county grandfather, who ordered someone to bring Xu Wei. Xu Wei explained: "It is the old rich man who is in a hurry. He took the couplet away before I finished it. " The county magistrate didn't quite believe Xu Wei's story, so he had to let Xu Wei finish the couplet. The couplet was originally written like this: "The magistrate is not a person, and the adopted son is a thief." After Xu Wei finished writing, he completely changed it. "Magistrate's adult is not a person, but this is the birthday girl of Nanshan. Raise a son to be a thief and steal a flat peach for his father. " Everyone praised Xu Wei for his talent, so the old rich man had to go back despondently. We can see Xu Wei's cleverness and talent from this story.
Xu Wei's former residence is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. There is a quiet and long alley in Qianguan Lane of Shaoxing, which extends to the Qingteng Bookstore. Qingteng Bookstore is the former residence of Xu Wei, a painter and calligrapher in Ming Dynasty.

Walking into the Ivy Bookstore, you can see a yard that is not too big. In the corner of the yard, there are some bamboos swaying in the wind. Opposite the bamboo are plantains, pomegranates and so on. Although it is just ordinary flowers and plants, what gives people an elegant and comfortable feeling is the design of the yard.
Walking slowly inside, Xu Wei's study appeared in front of him. The decoration of the room is particularly simple and ordinary, and there is nothing special about it. There are Four Treasures of the Study on the desk in the room: pen, ink, paper and inkstone. On the wall opposite the door, the top plaque reads "Qingteng Bookstore" with the portrait of Xu Wei hanging under it. On both sides of the portrait, there is a couplet "Several rickety houses with a southern accent and a northern accent".
The back room of the study turned out to be Xu Wei's room. Now, it has become a place for Xu Wei's calligraphy and painting, and there are many excellent works of Xu Wei, including some classic works that amaze the world. This design can let visitors see Xu Wei's talent.
Xu Wei's life was bumpy, poor and brilliant, which made Xu Wei resentful and could only send love poems and paintings. In fact, the original bookstore was not called Ivy Bookstore, but was written by Chen Hongshou. At first, Wei Xu called his bookstore Liu Hua Bookstore. Fifty years after Xu Wei's death, the painter Chen Hongshou repaired Xu Wei's former residence because he appreciated Xu Wei. Chen Hongshou lived in Xu Wei's former residence for a year or two.
