The pavilion in Yuelu Mountain is called Aiwan Pavilion.
Aiwan Pavilion was built in the 57th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1792) by Luo Dian, dean of Yuelu Academy. Taoranting in Taoranting Park is also known as one of the four famous pavilions in China.
Aiwan Pavilion is located on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha City, Hunan Province, in the Qingfeng Gorge of Yuelu Mountain. It was originally called Hongye Pavilion. The poem "Moon Flower" was renamed Aiwan Pavilion. In 1969, Yuelu Mountain Park was renovated, and the cursive handwriting "Qinyuanchun·Changsha" was engraved in the caisson, which added brilliance to the ancient pavilion.
Ai Wan Pavilion has pleasant scenery in all four seasons, with pink willows and red willows in spring, and the sound of springs in the winding stream; in midsummer, the green shade blocks the sun and the cool breeze blows; in the cold autumn, the red maples are like fire, and the sunset increases the glory; in the midwinter, the green trees are silvery and charming. posture.
Interlude of the name change of Ai Wan Pavilion:
The three characters "Ai Wan Pavilion" on the pavilion are easy to identify and were inscribed by a great man. When this pavilion was first built, it was not called Ai Wan Pavilion, but was named Hongye Pavilion and Ai Feng Pavilion. The red leaves of Yuelu Mountain in autumn have been a major attraction since ancient times. Every late autumn, the red maples all over the mountains and fields are a pleasant sight.
The name Aiwanting is derived from Du Mu's "Stop and sit in the evening to love the maple forest", but there is a small episode in history about who changed the name. The founder of Aiwan Pavilion was Luo Dian, the headmaster of Yuelu Academy during the Qianlong period, also known as the dean. A poet at that time, Yuan Mei, visited Yuelu Academy, but Luo Dian did not want to see him because he heard that Yuan Mei thought "Red Leaf Pavilion" was too vulgar and it was better to rename it "Aiwan Pavilion".
In fact, Yuan Mei visited Yuelu Mountain in the 49th year of Qianlong's reign, that is, November 27, 1784. At that time, Luo Dian had not yet built the Red Leaf Pavilion. The real person who changed the name was Bi Yuan, a friend of Dean Luo Dian and the governor of Huguang at the time. This person liked to visit Yuelu Mountain and changed the name of Hongye Pavilion to the more pleasant "Aiwan Pavilion".
This statement is found in the following line of Luo Dian's poem "Two poems written by the envoy of Cishi Zhuotang to the academy as a farewell": "There are many red leaves in the mountains, and there is a pavilion at the foot of the mountain. Bi Qiufan's military name is ' Love late' Ji Yi Shi" was confirmed.
