In the fifth year of Yuanfeng, Su Shi was demoted to Huangzhou. Su Shi and some friends took a boat to Chibi, where Cao Cao and Zhou Yu are said to be fighting. They sang while drinking, Su Shi sang along with the rhythm by the boat, and one of them played the flute of "complaining like acacia, crying like resentment" as accompaniment. We can know from Su Shi's "Thousand Red Cliffs Fu". The music they sing and play can make the dragon in the deep water dance for it, and make the widow who misses her husband on the drifting boat stop sobbing. For hundreds of years, people have been full of praise for the description of this piece of music in Su Shi's Fu on a Thousand Cliffs, which gives people an immersive aesthetic feeling.
"... so I am very happy to drink, I sang, and the song said,' Return to Xi Lan's oar, strike the sky and shine on my back, and look forward to a beautiful day. If there is a piper, make peace with him by singing. Its voice is full of resentment, yearning, crying and complaining, and the lingering sound is endless. It dances hidden dumplings in the valley and cries for lonely women. (Note: See Selected Works of Su Shi's Qianchibi Fu)
