Extension: Poet Du Mu

Du Mu, a Fan Chuan layman, was an outstanding poet and essayist in the Tang Dynasty, the grandson of Du You, the prime minister, and the son of Du You. At the age of 26, he became a scholar and was appointed as the school librarian of Hong Wen Pavilion. Later, he went to Jiangxi as an observer and later became an envoy to Huainan. After that, he also held many other official positions. Du Mu lived in South Fan Chuan Villa in Chang 'an in his later years, so he was later called "Du Fanchuan" and wrote "Collected Works of Fan Chuan". Du Mu's poems are famous for their seven-character quatrains, and the content is mainly about history. His poetry is brilliant and handsome, and he writes more about the things he experienced in his life, which made great achievements in the late Tang Dynasty. Du is called "Xiao Du" and Li Shangyin is also called "Du Xiaoli". Du Mu's major works include Crossing the Qing Palace, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Red Cliff, Bo Qinhuai, Mountain Walking, Autumn Night, Spring Day in the South of the Yangtze River, Tiujiang Pavilion and so on.
