What does the poem "White Hair Early in the Imperial City" mean?

It means: in the morning, the morning glow is all over the sky, and I will set foot on my way home. Looking up from the river, you can see the colorful clouds in Baidicheng, such as among the clouds, and the scenery is gorgeous! Jiangling, thousands of miles away, arrived in one day. The cries of apes on both sides of the strait are constantly echoing. When the ape's crow was still ringing in his ears, the brisk boat had crossed the endless mountains.

Bai fa Zao Huang cheng

Tang Dynasty: Li Bai

Early in the morning, I bid farewell to Jiangling city, which is high into the sky, thousands of miles away, and the boat is only one day away.

The cries of apes on both sides of the strait are still unconsciously crowing in their ears, and the canoe has passed the heavy green hills.

Extended data

Bai Di City was written by Li Bai at the age of 58. This spring, Li Bai was exiled to a remote place called Yelang. However, on the way to Baidi City, the news of the emperor's pardon suddenly came.

Li Bai was pleasantly surprised. He immediately sailed eastward along the Yangtze River and returned to Jiangling, leaving behind this widely read poem.

"Starting early" means leaving in the morning. Baidicheng is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River in fengjie county, Chongqing. It is said that at the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Gongsun Shu occupied Shu and intended to be emperor, so he built a city on the mountain. Because there is a well in the city, which is often as white as a white dragon, Gongsun Shu calls itself "Bai Di" and the city "Bai Di City".

In the morning, the poet said goodbye to Bai Di City excitedly in the colorful clouds. Resignation means farewell. Baidicheng is located on a very high mountain. Seen from the edge of the Yangtze River at the foot of the mountain, Xia Guang's Baidicheng towers into the clouds, as if it were among colorful clouds, so the poet described it as "among colorful clouds".

"Thousands of miles away, Jiangling will return in one day"-thousands of miles away, the poet can return in one day. Jiangling is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province. From Baidicheng to Jiangling, it is about 1, 200 Li, and there are beautiful Three Gorges of the Yangtze River on the way. At that time, there were no cars and ships, so we had to rely on manpower to transport them. Obviously, we can't return in one day, so this is an exaggeration of the poet's extreme joy.

"The apes on both sides of the strait can't stop crying, but the canoe has passed Chung Shan Man"-In the ancient Three Gorges, there are a large number of apes living on both sides of the strait, and their cries are loud and harsh, one after another. On the boat going down the river at high speed, the poet saw the cliff passing at high speed in his eyes and heard the continuous cries of apes in his ears. The boat flies like an arrow, and the poet feels as light as a swallow. It's really indescribable.
