At the age of 100, Master Xu Yun led monks to reclaim land, plow fields, smash bricks, rebuild temples and reshape Buddha statues. By 1959, temples and monasteries were built one after another, with a construction area of about 662l square meters. There are more than 50 Buddha statues in Shinjuku Temple, with 120 monks as abbots.
1956, in view of the increasing number of monks in the temple, in order to improve people's understanding of Buddhism, Xu Yun repeatedly discussed with you to establish a Buddhist college in the temple, but it was stranded because there were no suitable candidates to give lectures.
1June, 956, Shi Haideng (Master Hayden) came to Yunjushan from Shanghai to be close to Xu Yun, leaving Master Xu Yun here forever. On July 1956 and 15, the former abbot Xing Fu retired and Shi Haideng (Master Hayden) was promoted to abbot. Soon, Xu Yunfeng and Hai Deng monk * * * hosted a lecture in the temple. At the Dharma Conference, Master Hayden told the monks the Shurangama Sutra for four months. In addition to the monks and nuns of this temple, Yunju Mountain and the surrounding small temples, there are four disciples from Hong Kong and other provinces and cities in the Mainland. Master Hayden is very familiar with the scriptures, fluent and easy to understand, articulate and loud.

1956 10, in order to continue the wisdom of Buddhism and carry forward the ancestral style, Xu Yun rebuilt and inspected the students under the seat. After the inspection, Xu Yun taught Shi Haideng (master of sea lanterns), Xing Fu and several monks to seal the ancestral style in Xinyi Temple (see the hanging clock board in Yunjushan for details). 1957 At the beginning of this year, busybodies wanted to occupy the fields reclaimed by Sinnijoji monks in 55-57, and even scrambled to bring Mao Peng, where Xu Yun lived, into the relocation scope. Xu Yun turned to Li for help and presented this letter to the Prime Minister for safety.
In the summer of 1957, Xu Yun continued to arrange for Master Hayden to speak "Hokkekyo" to monks in Xinyi Temple until 10. During this period, Master Xu Yun and Hayden founded the Buddhist College in the temple. Nearly 10 young monks with higher or lower education were chosen to go to school. Learn the non-full-time learning system, and attend classes for two hours at 4: 00 am and two hours at 6: 00 pm every day. Ask for self-study after listening to the lecture, and then build a small seat. This year, Master Hayden gave lectures, while monks were asked to recite Shurangama Sutra, Hokkekyo and Four Points for Monks.

"There is no stage in agriculture,
Diligence is the first honor.

In order to improve the cultural quality of young and middle-aged monks in the temple, Master Hayden not only gave lectures, but also used classical books such as China Ancient Literature and 300 Tang Poems as teaching materials to teach you the knowledge of China classical literature, which benefited young monks a lot.
1September, 957 15, Master Xu Yun invited a photographer to climb the mountain and photographed the whole mountain scenery, including the Buddha statue, Jing Lou, Fa Tang, Huishan, Jiexian Monk Pagoda, Yueming Lake, Zhaozhouguan and the fifth part of Hong Fei, contemporary Zhongxing George, Haihui Pagoda and Mao Peng where he lives. There is also a frame of self-portrait, * * * 39. After the photos were developed, Xu Yun personally arranged to distribute them to good letters, telling the merits of donations.
Shinnyoji in Yunjushan, Jiangxi Province belongs to Zen among the eight major sects of Buddhism in China. Generally, I don't practice martial arts, but mainly meditate. Therefore, there are basically no people in the temple who specialize in practicing martial arts with Master Hayden. Hayden practices alone every morning, sometimes with disciple Jiping. During his stay in Xinnan Temple, Master Hayden performed several martial arts for everyone, which left a deep impression on the monks living in the temple. Among them are two-finger Zen, three-section stick, nine-section whip, arhat boxing, plum palm, aerial archery and so on. The three-stick technique played by the master of the sea lantern can be in a straight line and changes greatly; Aerial archery is even more impressive. In particular, "Two Fingers Zen" is even more amazing.
Master Hayden is mainly responsible for the construction of Shinnyoji: the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. (The second floor of the bell and drum rebuilt after the Cultural Revolution was rebuilt on the previous basis. According to the tour guide, Master Hayden lived on Huaihai Road when he was in Shanghai. My Taoist friend was still young. Master Hayden taught him martial arts, and he didn't like it. Later, Master Hayden taught him the secret method. During the Cultural Revolution, it was this Taoist friend who preserved many magic weapons of the master of sea lanterns, which was really the foresight of the master.
In his later years, Master Hayden was invited to take instructions for meditation, so he tied a rope to his foot. Later, it was hit by the reporter who first publicized Master Hayden, which became a big grievance. The mage died suddenly, leaving the Jiuzu Pagoda in Yunjushan. The moon was clear and indistinguishable.

1959, Master Hayden became the abbot of Shigong Temple in Wuxian County, Suzhou, and then went to Wutai Mountain in Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province for advice and practice ... 1967 In the late autumn, Master Hayden returned to Sichuan from Shanghai. On the hillside of Zhonghua Town, Jiangyou County, my hometown, a crude Mao Feng was built, named "Benyuan Jingshe". Be quiet. And write poems to express their feelings:
Take a little sand from the Ganges,
Half a scoop of white water to live a lifetime;
The seaside abandoned the celebrity club,
A scholar formed at the foot of the mountain.
Hayden was an ascetic monk and lived a very simple life. After he returned to his hometown, he made a living by teaching martial arts, which attracted many young people. When Hayden was in Chinatown, he not only taught people martial arts, but also treated fellow villagers well and was deeply respected by local people. He has been living a quiet life and hiding in the mountains all the year round. 1In the early spring of 968, he led four disciples to Songshan Mountain, Henan Province, and with the ambition of "being old and not thinking about old, but still stepping on Kyushu with two feet", he visited Shaolin Temple, which had been away for thirty years. This is Master Hayden's sixth visit to his hometown. When I came to the temple, I saw snow and birds singing, and the pines remained the same. Recalling the scene of "dancing at the sound of bells" and practicing Shaolin martial arts hard, I couldn't help feeling from my mouth and casually recited:
Snowflakes sing birds six times, and Haiyan flies to remember Wolong.
For more than 30 years, I only dreamed, and I was a hero after a million robberies.
When I leave, I will visit the Shaolin path, which will help me remember the midnight bell.
On the way home, I wrote "Four quatrains of Revisiting Shaolin", one of which is a quatrain cloud:
Songshan's martial arts are famous at home and abroad.
Small room athletes traveled all over Kyushu;
For me, spring comes at the right time.
The scenery is endless and the snow has not stopped.
Expressed high praise for Shaolin Wushu and deep feelings for Shaolin Temple.
After smashing the Gang of Four, Master Hayden wrote cheerfully:
"ten years of cold sitting is a success.
But to the world, it is a white cow. "
I would like to devote myself to the revitalization of Shaolin Wushu in my lifetime. 1September, 979, a film crew filmed strange things in Sichuan. By chance, the director of Longteng Bigu Forum heard that there was a monk in Jiangyou who knew martial arts, so he invited a sea lantern, and it went on the screen. Hong Kong Great Wall Film Company cooperated with Emei Film Studio to produce a large-scale news documentary "Sichuan Curiosity Record". Master Hayden led his disciples to Baoguang Temple, a famous temple in western Sichuan, and performed wonderful Shaolin martial arts such as "Two Fingers Zen" and "Childlike Kung Fu", which won the praise of "profound skill and amazing stunts". At that time, the monks in Baoguang Temple and many young people in Xindu studied Shaolin Wushu with Master Hayden. He taught it wholeheartedly and enjoyed it. He has a cloud in Ten Miscellaneous Poems of Baoguang Temple:
After several years of running water in the mountains, I can't sleep after washing my pulp;
I am willing to pass on what I have learned, and Yuyu will clarify that I have a good year.
It embodies the valuable spirit of Master Hayden, who is old and vigorous, diligent and diligent, and teaches Shaolin stunts to younger generations.
With the release of this film, the name of the sea lantern was first spread.
During this period, the founder of the photography team was very close to Master Hayden. He once studied swordsmanship and asked for advice on poetry, and was given the gift of "To Master Hayden" by the Prime Minister. When Master Hayden left Baoguang Temple, he returned a seven-rhythm poem "Stay in the New Capital Feng Jun": The light of clouds and water washes the eyes, and the dust will know the immortal.

The film crew accompanied Master Hayden and his party back to Baoguang Temple to meet old friends of monks and nuns and civil and military disciples.
At the end of 1984, the photography team had just finished filming this film in Beijing. At the joint invitation of CCTV and Chengdu Foreign Affairs Office, Master Hayden braved the snowstorm and took his disciple Fan to Baoguang Temple to participate in the filming of the TV film "Buddhist Life" written by the author, which reflected the life of Buddhists. So, the author was lucky enough to get a poem by the master again, and his encouragement was beyond words:
How many people know the wonderful use of baoguang,
I once paid tribute to my mentor;
Ghost fox meets talented people,
This business is not a waste of hot money.
At the same time, Master Hayden visited the martial arts training class taught by his disciples in Xindu at the dawn of rain and snow. Master Hayden happily said to the students who are practicing martial arts: "You are all boys and girls.' Boys practice lightness skill, and the more they practice, the more they rush.'" I hope you can learn martial arts well, practice your skills, contribute to the "four modernizations" and win glory for your country. Master Hayden was appointed as the first curator. The yellow glazed tiles and palace-style buildings of the Hayden Martial Arts School are not built like this. Obviously, this is a restored memorial hall. Some people thought so at that time. The martial arts school is full of poems written by sea lanterns. A leader of Jiangyou said that it is necessary to build a martial arts school for Master Haideng, develop local economic and social undertakings, build famous brands and make use of celebrity effect. Master Hayden is a Jiangyou man, and Jiangyou will launch Master Hayden. Master Hayden then published "The Essentials of Shaolin Qigong", which aroused a strong response from the Wushu Festival. He also compiled "Shaolin Poems on Clouds and Waters", which was praised by famous scholars at home and abroad. Because of his great fame, ordinary martial arts scholars are eager for him.
In the same year, he served as abbot of Gokurakuji in Guanwushan.
Besides giving lectures and practicing martial arts, Master Hayden wrote many poems in his life. In his own words, he said, "The rest of the customs have been banned for more than 60 years.
