Translation
Confucius was traveling eastward and saw two children arguing. Ask them what they are arguing about.
A child said: "I think the sun is close to people when it has just risen, but it is far away from people at noon."
Another child thinks that the sun has just risen. It is farther away from people at midday, and closer to people at noon.
A child said: "When the sun first rises, it is as big as the hood of a car, but at noon it is as small as a plate. Isn't this the principle of small in the distance and large in the near?"
Another child said: "It's cool when the sun first comes out, but at noon it's as hot as putting your hand into hot water. Isn't this the same thing that makes people feel hot when they are close, and feels cool when they are far away?"
p>After hearing this, Confucius could not judge who was right or wrong.
The two children smiled and said to Confucius: "Who said you are wise?"
