Before learning this poem in the textbook, I only thought that two people met at a banquet, and it was the first time to write this poem to express their feelings.
I don't know, the relationship between Liu Yuxi and Bai Juyi has long been very good, and one thing is particularly worth mentioning. Liu Yuxi and Liu Zongyuan originally said that "everything has been the same for twenty years", and their friendship is very touching. Needless to say, Bai Juyi and Yuan Zhen were called Bai Yuan in their early years, which was also a profound friendship. Bai Juyi once wrote a poem "You bury the mud under the spring, and I send the snow to the world" to commemorate Yuan Zhen, who died eight years ago.
These two pairs were very famous "poets' groups" in the middle Tang Dynasty. Professor Dai Jianye also talked about the friendship between Liu Liu and Bai Yuan. Just after the death of Yuan Zhen and Liu Zongyuan, Liu Yuxi and Bai Juyi met and knew each other in their later years, and established another great poet friendship in the Tang Dynasty.
I still remember Liu Yuxi's poem "It's late in Sang Yu, the sky is still full of clouds", which is a chorus with Bai Juyi to comfort Bai Juyi who was ill in his later years.

Back to Song Dynasty's "Yangzhou First Meeting to Enjoy Lotte", in 826 AD, Liu Yuxi returned to Luoyang from Hezhou, and Bai Juyi also returned to Luoyang from Suzhou, and the two met in Yangzhou. However, Bai Juyi wrote a poem to Liu Yuxi first, and Liu Yuxi gave it to him as a reward. The topic is very clear, because Bai Juyi improvised a poem for him at the banquet.
Today, let's take a look at Bai Juyi's song "Drunk to Twenty-eight Ambassadors of Liu".
Both of them have their own strong points in poetic style. Liu Yuxi calls himself a "poet", and his theme is bold, open-minded and tenacious. Bai Juyi took frankness and simplicity as his religion. These characteristics are also reflected in these two poems. Compared with Liu Yuxi's indifference to everything, Bai Juyi is more enthusiastic about Liu Yuxi and his feelings are more frank and direct.
Classic original text
Drunk, presented to Liu's 28 envoys.
Tang Dynasty: Bai Juyi
You drank wine with me for me, drank wine with me, and we played chopsticks and sang songs together.
Although your poetry is first-class and can be called a national champion, it is doomed that you can't get it.
Dou Rong's eyes are decent, but you stay lonely for a long time. Full officials have their own satisfactory positions, but you are empty.
I also know that you should be very tired, but these 23 years have been too much loss.
Point by point analysis
The first sentence of the poem inexplicably reads Li Bai "Let me sing a song for you!"! Please listen to me. " Bai Juyi said he was drunk and gave it to him, but the feeling was true.
Give me a cup and fill it up! Let's knock on the plate with chopsticks and sing together!
Like Li Bai, the following words were sung by Bai Juyi.
He said, rachel, I really sympathize with you. Your poetry is the national hand, but your life situation is so unbearable that you are doomed to be unable to get ahead in life. This is something that can't be helped.
In Luoyang, the eastern capital, every day you look up with glory, decency and elegance, but you can only stay lonely for a long time. Man Chao Wen Wu, there is no place for you, wandering in that lonely place, wasting the best youth!
